Abstract: A method including receiving, from a second cell, a paging message associated with a network slice supported by a first cell, wherein the paging message includes at least an indication indicating to wait for a command indicative of performing a re-direction or a handover from the second cell to the first cell before transmitting a service request to a network associated with the first cell and the second cell; performing, by the terminal device, the re-direction or the handover from the second cell to the first cell upon receiving the command; and transmitting, through the first cell, the service request upon completing the re-direction or the handover from the second cell to the first cell, wherein the service request indicates a request for establishing a protocol data unit session associated with the network slice.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product provide enhanced emergency services fallback procedures. The user equipment may indicate the emergency services fallback within the registration request message to a network entity, such as the access and mobility management function. Upon receiving the registration request message the emergency services fallback procedure is triggered. The user equipment receives an indication, such as via an access stratum layer and the received indication is considered, such as by the non-access stratum layer in the user equipment, as the registration response message. The user equipment is configured to respond differently upon receiving differently configured registration response rejection messages or upon expiration of a response timer.

Abstract: A user equipment operating in a connected mode includes a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. The first layer generates a request to send a non-initial non-access stratum (NAS) message over a first connection that operates according to a first radio access technology (RAT). The second layer determines whether access to the first connection is barred for the non-initial NAS message. The first layer selects a connection to deliver the non-initial NAS message between the first connection and a second connection that operates according to a second RAT in response to access to the first connection being barred. In some cases, the non-initial NAS message is a mobile originated short message service (SMS) message or an uplink NAS transport message. In some cases, the first layer is an NAS layer and the second layer is a radio resource control layer.
