A capsule for an aerosol-generating device is provided, including a shell including a base and at least one side wall extending from the base, the shell containing an aerosol-forming substrate; and a lid sealed on the at least one side wall for forming a sealed capsule, wherein the base includes a recess extending into said shell along the longitudinal axis for receiving a heater of an aerosol-generating device. An aerosol-generating device is also provided, including a power supply; at least one heater; a cavity for receiving the capsule containing the aerosol-forming substrate; and a mouthpiece including a piercing element for piercing the lid of the capsule, wherein the at least one heater is configured to be insertable into a recess of the capsule. An aerosol-generating system including the aerosol-generating device and the capsule is also provided.

An aerosol-generating device configured to receive an aerosol-generating article is provided, including: an elongate housing having a distal end and a proximal end; a light source; and a controller configured to control the light source, in which, in use, the proximal end of the housing points towards a consumer, in which the proximal end of the housing includes an illumination portion made from translucent material, in which the light source is optically coupled to the illumination portion, and in which the illumination portion is configured to surround the aerosol-generating device in use. A method for manufacturing a rod-shaped aerosol-generating article is provided, including: arranging segments in a row along a longitudinal direction; wrapping a first sheet around at least one of the segments; and wrapping a second sheet around at least one of the segments so as to at least partially overlap the first sheet, such that upon wrapping the second sheet, an electromagnetic information marker is created, the electromagnetic information marker including a first structure provided on the first sheet and a second structure provided on the second sheet. A system for determining a resistivity of a heating system for an aerosol generating article, the system including: a receptacle configured to receive a plurality of elements, each element including a heating system to be tested; and a testing assembly including: a plurality of sensors, each sensor including at least a pair of electrical contacts configured to pass an electric current therethrough and being configured to obtain signals related to properties of the heating system of each of the plurality of elements, and a processor configured to receive the signals obtained by the sensors and determine a resistivity of the heating system of each of the plurality of elements, the sensors being biasedly held in the testing assembly.
