Abstract: Wireless communication devices, systems, and methods related to power saving, including during connected mode operation and for extended reality (XR) data communications with or without discontinuous reception (DRX), are provided. For example, a method of wireless communication includes receiving, while in a connected mode, a configuration based on data traffic for the wireless communication device, the configuration indicating: a first zone associated with a first set of operating parameters for the wireless communication device; and a second zone associated with a second set of operating parameters for the wireless communication device, the second set of operating parameters being different than the first set of operating parameters; operating in the first zone with the first set of operating parameters to monitor for a first downlink communication signal; and operating in the second zone with the second set of operating parameters.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a wake up signal (WUS) within a WUS monitoring occasion (WMO) indicating to initiate a discontinuous reception (DRX) on-duration, a time to initiate the DRX on-duration being based at least in part on a timing of the WMO within a set of WMOs. The UE may receive a communication based at least in part on initiating the DRX on-duration at the time. Numerous other aspects are described.

Techniques described herein relate to a network entity indicating a configuration for a user equipment (UE) for wake up radio signaling when the main radio of the UE is in a sleep mode. The UE may monitor for and receive, using the wake up radio, a wake up signal, a low power reference signal, or a low power synchronization signal from a second UE in accordance with the configuration. If the UE receives a wake up signal from the second UE, the UE may establish communications with the second UE or with the network entity based on the wake up signal.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A network entity may account for jitter in communications with a user equipment (UE) by adjusting connected mode discontinuous reception (CDRX) configuration parameters for the UE based on estimated downlink traffic arrival times. For a downlink traffic burst, the network entity may estimate a traffic arrival offset based on determining a traffic periodicity, an estimated arrival time associated with one or more packets of a traffic burst, and at least one jitter parameter. The jitter parameter may represent an uncertainty in the arrival time of the traffic burst. The network entity may select a CDRX offset value based on the estimated traffic arrival offset. The network entity may transmit (e.g., to a UE, such as an extended reality (XR) device) a message indicating the CDRX offset value, for example, as part of a CDRX configuration.

A user equipment (UE) may determine a downlink configuration including a set of resources for receiving downlink transmissions. The UE may determine a grant for performing uplink transmissions based on a radio resource control (RRC) message. The UE may determine, based on the downlink configuration, the grant, or both, an uplink configuration including a set of resources for transmitting the uplink transmissions at a set of uplink transmission occasions. In some aspects, the set of uplink transmission occasions may be arranged according to a non-uniform spacing pattern in a time domain. The UE may transmit, to a base station, one or more uplink transmissions based on the uplink configuration.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to power reduction measures that can be employed by wireless user equipment (UE) participating in an extended reality (XR) application. A wireless UE, while operating in a first power state, may receive, from an XR service provider, a plurality of packets corresponding to a video frame. The UE may reassemble and decode the received packets to reproduce the video frame. Once the UE determines it has received information sufficient to reproduce the video frame, the UE may enter a second power state, different from the first power state, for a predetermined amount of time. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a reduced capability user equipment (UE) may receive signaling indicating a set of repetition levels for receiving control information from a base station and a blind detection threshold for decoding the control information. Upon receiving the signaling, the reduced capability UE may monitor a control channel candidate for the control information based on the set of repetition levels. Once the reduced capability UE detects the control information from the monitoring, the reduced capability UE may perform at least one blind detection on the control channel candidate based on the set of repetition levels and the blind detection threshold and receive the control information from the base station.

A user equipment (UE) may identify an indication of a wakeup signal (WUS) configuration for the first UE, the WUS configuration indicating a WUS monitoring occasion for sidelink wakeup signaling between the first UE and a second UE. The UE may determine a first set of resources for transmission of a WUS by the first UE within the WUS monitoring occasion based on the WUS configuration, the first set of resources disjoint in time with a second set of resources for the second UE within the WUS monitoring occasion. The UE may transmit the WUS to the second UE using the first set of resources within the WUS monitoring occasion based on an identification of traffic for the second UE at the first UE.
