    摘要: A constant-flow drip irrigation tape hose includes a primary flow path communicating water along the length of the hose. A secondary drip-flow path leads from the primary flow path to an emitter site outwardly of the hose. The hose is formed with a pair of variably spaced apart walls at least one of which is formed with a continuously-open channel defining part of the secondary flow path. A second variable-area part of the secondary flow path is defined by radial spacing of the pair of walls from one another. At least one of the pair of walls is responsive to internal water pressure in the primary flow path to open and close the variable-area part of the secondary flow path in response, respectively, to decreasing and increasing water pressure in the hose. A plurality of emitter sites are spaced regularly along a length of the hose. Consequently, the hose has at least one pressure range within which it provides a nearly constant drip-flow irrigation rate to plants of a row crop as the water pressure within the hose decreases over the length of an elongate run of hose.

    摘要: A surface power unit for use on a subterranean well generates a series of pulses of pressurized fluid to a downhole pump. A pump means generates a flow of fluid from a reservoir through a charging line to a charging side of a cylinder. A piston is slidably disposed within the cylinder, dividing the cylinder into the charging side and a power side. Position or pressure transducer means responsive to the movement of the piston generates control signals representing the position of the piston in the cylinder. The charging line can include a first valve means responsive to one of the control signals for regulating the flow of fluid through the charging line. A return line is provided for returning fluid from the charging side of the cylinder to the pump means. The return line includes a second valve means responsive to another one of the control signals for regulating the flow of fluid through the return line. Whenever the first valve means is closed to permit fluid to flow through the charging line into the charging side of the cylinder, the second valve means is opened to prevent fluid from escaping from the charging side of the cylinder and the piston is moved through a power stroke to generate a pressurized fluid pulse, then the first valve means is opened, and the second valve means is closed. A return pipe supplies fluid from the well to the power side of the cylinder to move the piston through a return stroke. A power line supplies the pulses of fluid generated by the movement of the piston in the cylinder to the downhole pump. In alternate embodiments, an energy storage tank is connected between the well and the return pipe; the first and second valve means can be a four-way valve; or the first valve means can be eliminated.

    摘要: To improve the erosion resistance of the mixing chamber of a jet pump employed to pump particulate containing fluids, this invention contemplates directing a pressurized source of clean fluid through an annular jet-type orifice, thus providing an annular jet of high velocity clean fluid at the inlet end of the mixing chamber which surrounds an orifice connected to the source of particulate containing fluid and effects the pressurizing and pumping of the particulate containing fluid by the well known jet diffusion technique. Additionally, this invention contemplates the provision of a second annular nozzle surrounding the first mentioned annular nozzle through which a relatively clean fluid is discharged, thereby interposing a clean fluid barrier between the momentumly transferred particulate containing fluid and the surface of the mixing chamber to protect such surface from the abrading effects of the particulate material. In a modification of the invention, the relatively particulate-free fluid stream is produced by diverting a portion of the pressurized clean fluid supplied to the jet pump to effect the centrifugal separation of the particulate containing fluid into two streams, respectively a radially inner stream relatively free of particulate which is supplied to the aforementioned outermost annular orifice and a central particulate rich stream which is supplied to the central orifice of the mixing chamber and educted therefrom by the annular high velocity jet stream of clean fluid.

    摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus for pumping and conditioning a drilling fluid normally utilized in the drilling, completion or workover of a subterranean oil or gas well. The apparatus includes a rotor housing encasing a rotatably supported rotor assembly and means for driving the rotor assembly. The rotor assembly is divided into first and second chambers. The first chamber has a radial acceleration passage, connected between an inlet for the drilling fluid and a peripheral portion of the chamber, and means for collecting a first component of the drilling fluid, the drill chips, which are the heaviest, and are forced to the periphery of the first chamber. The second chamber also has a radial acceleration passage which is connected between the first chamber and a peripheral portion of the second chamber and has a first pickup means stationarily mounted for collecting a second component, barite, at the periphery of the second chamber, a second pickup means stationarily mounted for collecting a third component, bentonite, intermediate the periphery and the center of the second chamber, and means for collecting a fourth component, gases, at the center of the second chamber. The barite and bentonite can then be recycled in the drilling fluid.

    摘要: A centrifugal separator and pitot pump has a rotor driven in rotation within a casing with fluid to be cleansed of solid material entering a separation chamber of the rotor. Under a rotor imposed, centrifugal force field, solids in the fluid separate from the fluid and exit in a liquid carrier through a pitot tap close to the outer radial rotor wall. Radially interiorly of this tap, a pitot pickup intercepts cleansed production fluid and exits that fluid from the rotor. A head of a scoop of the pitot tap has an inlet in a blunt leading face and a top at the maximum radial limit of the scoop that is relieved from the leading face of the scoop to a trailing end. An inlet passage from the inlet generally parallels the line of the relief. In profile, the leading face of a scoop neck below the head curves in relief from the inlet face to a scoop base and has a relatively large radius of curvature. The leading face of the neck and base in planes normal to a radius from the axis of the rotor presents a blunt surface with curved transition corners between the middle of the face and the sides of the neck and base.
