    摘要: Temperature indicating apparatus for sensing overheating at a pair of terminals on an electrical power line comprises a neon gas-filled glow tube and a thermistor electrically coupled in series across the terminals, with a resistor electrically coupled in parallel with the glow tube. The thermistor is thermally coupled to the terminations so that an excessive temperature rise at either terminal decreases the thermistor resistance to a level at which sufficient voltage appears across the glow tube to ignite the glow tube and provide a visual indication of overheating. The circuit readily lends itself to a plug-in type configuration if the terminals to be monitored are in a duplex receptacle, or to employment in a cube tap.

    摘要: A circuit is provided for controlling energization of the start winding of an alternating current motor whose shaft is divided into a number of angular segments equal to the number of poles of the motor. A shaft pulse is generated each time one of the angular segments rotates past a predetermined point. A line pulse is generated for each half cycle of line voltage. The shaft pulses are multiplied by the denominator of a selected trip-out ratio while the line pulses are multiplied by the numerator of the trip-out ratio. The multiplied shaft and line pulses are provided to an up/down counter which counts the shaft pulses down and the line pulses up. During the counter overflow condition, the circuit connects the start winding to the line voltage source. During the counter underflow condition, the circuit disconnects the start winding from the line voltage source.

    摘要: A piezoceramic relay is disclosed having a bimorph actuating member cantilever mounted within an enclosure of various forms and materials. The enclosures may be moisture-proof and/or hermetically sealed to maintain a vacuum or a protective gaseous atmosphere in which the relay contacts operate. The electrical terminations of the relay are brought out externally of the enclosure in a form compatible with a plug receptacle. To ensure precision contact gaps, removable spacers are positioned between the stationary and movable contacts during prepolarization of the bimorph member.

    摘要: A switch is provided wherein a piezoelectric bimorph element is used to provide many separately controllable, closely spaced switchable contacts. The element includes at least two oppositely extending fingers connected by a common spine. The element spine is mounted to a case with the fingers spaced from an inner case surface. Electronic circuit means are mounted on the element spine for applying a separate electrical potential to each of the element fingers. A separate movable electrical contact is disposed on each of the element fingers spaced from the spine and insulated from the means for applying the separate electrical potentials to the fingers. A separate stationary contact is provided on an inner case surface opposite each of the movable contacts. In operations, a separate electrical potential is applied to each of the element fingers for selectively causing each finger to deflect and force its movable contact into electrical connection with the opposing stationary contact.

In addition to the devices themselves, novel electric circuits are described for the energization as well as the use of such devices as switching elements in electrical systems.
