Optionally the compound also includes additional polymers and functional additives to modify physical properties of the compound. Molded or extruded plastic articles can be made from the compound. The compound is ductile, in comparison to the polyhydroxyalkanoate without the macrocyclic poly(alkylene dicarboxylate) oligomer.

Chain-extended nanonylon is made from the reaction of oligomeric nanonylon and chain-extending agents. Such chain-extended nanonylon contains concentrations of organoclay exceeding 10 weight percent. High concentrations of organoclay permit the chain-extended nanonylon to be used as either a concentrate or a compound that provides good barrier properties for thermoplastic articles made from the chain-extended nanonylon.

Thermoplastic compositions are provided containing a saturated hydrocarbon amine oxide and stabilizer compositions are provided containing a saturated hydrocarbon amine oxide and a second stabilizer. The thermoplastic compositions exhibit good melt flow rate stability during processing and are useful for making molded and extruded articles. The stabilizer compositions are useful for addition to thermoplastics for the stabilization thereof. A method is also provided for stabilizing thermoplastic compositions and involves admixing a hydrocarbon amine oxide with a thermoplastic resin. The saturated hydrocarbon amine oxides are preferably trialkyl amine oxides. The thermoplastic resin is preferably a polyolefin resin.

A thermoplastic elastomeric composition is provided exhibiting reduced levels of hardness and enhanced levels of elongation. The composition contains a chlorinated polyolefin and graft copolymer having a rubber substrate present at a level of 65 to 90 percent by weight based on the total weight of the graft copolymer. Preferably the graft copolymer is an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene graft copolymer and preferably the chlorinated polyolefin is a chlorinated polyethylene having a high molecular weight and a relatively low chlorine level. The composition is useful for making molded articles such as interior automotive components requiring high elongation and tear resistance, reduced hardness and often high strain recovery.
