    Abstract: Provided are an illumination device capable of improving the uniformity in brightness of the illumination light, and a display device using the same. An illumination device is provided with: a plurality of light sources arranged in a row in one direction; and a light guide plate which has, along a side edge face, a light receiving face facing the light source, guides light entering through the light receiving face, and outputs illumination light from a light emitting surface disposed on the front surface; the light guide plate having a plurality of prisms and a plurality of prisms provided in an indented manner on the front or rear surface and arranged in a row along the longitudinal direction of the light receiving face; the prisms being formed spanning between the light receiving face and the opposing face opposite the light receiving face; and the prisms being formed, between adjacent prisms, deeper than the prisms within a predetermined range in the vicinity of the light receiving face.

    Abstract: In a backlight (20) including a frame (22) having an opening (22a), and a light guide plate assembly (23) disposed inside the frame (22) and having a light guide plate (24) and a light source (25), the backlight being configured to emit illumination light through the opening (22a), the frame (22) is formed by bending a metal plate and includes a bottom surface portion (22b) facing a rear surface of the light guide plate (24), a peripheral surface portion (22c) standing on a peripheral edge of the bottom surface portion (22b), and an upper surface portion (22d) bent from an upper end of the peripheral surface portion (22c) to form a peripheral edge of the opening, and an outer shape of the light guide plate assembly (23) is smaller than the opening (22a).

    Abstract: A backlight device 13 includes LEDs 22, a light guide plate 24, and a light reflecting portion 34. The light guide plate 24 is a plate member and includes a light entrance surface 24a, an opposite edge surface 24d, and a light exit surface 24b. The light entrance surface 24a is an edge surface of the plate member and opposite the LEDs 22 and light emitted by the LEDs 22 enters the light guide plate 24 through the light entrance surface. The opposite edge surface 24d is another edge surface of the plate member that is on an opposite side from the light entrance surface 24a. The light exit surface 24b is a plate surface of the plate member and the light entering through the light entrance surface 24a exits the light guide plate 24 through the light exit surface. The light reflecting portion 34 is disposed on at least the opposite edge surface 24d and reflecting light travelling within the light guide plate 24 toward the opposite edge surface 24d.

    Abstract: A backlight device includes LEDs, a light guide plate, an LED substrate, an optical sheet, and a low light-transmissive member. The light guide plate includes a light entering end surface, a light exiting plate surface, and an opposite plate surface. The LED substrate is disposed such that at least a section of the LED substrate overlaps a light entering-side edge section that is an edge section of the light guide plate on the light entering end surface side. The optical sheet includes a light entering-side edge section overlapping section disposed on the light exiting plate surface side of the light guide plate to overlap the light entering-side edge section. The low light-transmissive member disposed on the light entering-side edge section overlapping section of the optical sheet. The low light-transmissive member has a light transmissivity lower than that of other sections of the optical sheet.

    Abstract: A lighting device includes light sources, a light source board, and a casing. The light source board includes a board body portion having a substantially circular outer edge where the light sources are arranged at intervals in a substantially annular shape such that each light source emits light toward a center, an extended portion extending inward from the board body portion, and a trace portion electrically connected to each light source. The casing includes a tubular-shaped side wall portion surrounding the light sources, and a bottom portion disposed opposite the board body portion and having an exit hole therethrough through which the extended portion is inserted and the distal end of the extended portion is extended outside.

    Abstract: A lighting device includes an annular light source including light sources arranged in a circular pattern, a light guide plate having a round shape in a plan view, and a case holding the annular light source and the light guide plate. The light guide plate is disposed inside the annular light source. The light guide plate includes light entering portions, circumferentially aligned portions, and a light emitting portion. The light entering portions are opposed to the light sources. Each circumferentially aligned portion is between the adjacent light entering portions. A dimension of the circumferentially aligned portion in the radial direction is larger than a dimension of the light entering portion in the radial direction. The circumferentially aligned portions are aligned with the light sources in the circumferential direction and configured to contact the light sources when the light guide plate is rotated in the circumferential direction.
