    摘要: Disclosed here is a method for solving a conventional problem that no spherical aberration signal can be detected from any push-pull signal that is easy to adjust an object photodetector when a differential push-pull signal is obtained. To achieve the above object, sub-beams used to detect a differential push-pull signal are defocused from the main beam and spherical aberration signals are detected and the compensation of the spherical aberration is started while tracking controlling is off and detection of spherical aberration signals is held while the tracking controlling is on. The present invention can thus obtain both of the spherical aberration signal and the differential push-pull signal at the same time with use of the conventional detection system.

    摘要: The present invention aims to provide an optical data storage device capable of not only recording digital information by using holography, but also recording or reproducing information onto or from conventional optical discs represented by BD. In the optical data storage device of the present invention, a single light source is used for generation of both an optical beam for holographic medium curing and an optical beam for recording or reproducing information onto or from a BD or an HD DVD. Furthermore, the optical beam for holographic medium curing and the optical beam for recording or reproduction of information onto or from a BD or an HD DVD are designed to go through optical paths partly including a common optical path. In this configuration, multiple optical system configurations can be reasonably placed together into a single case.

    摘要: The hologram recording technology expected to realize ultrahigh-density information recording is one of the post Blu-ray Disc technology. When we think about developing a drive based on this technology and suitable for consumer electronics, it is considered most desirable from the viewpoint of upward compatibility to solve the problem of the BD-compatibility. The problem in sharing the laser light source between the hologram recording device and the current optical disc device, however, is that the hologram recording requires a high-coherent, single-mode light beam, while the current optical discs requires a low-coherent, multi-mode light beam. In point of the coherence of the light source, the above two cases require the light beams of the characteristics opposite to each other, and this presents an important task.For the purpose of solving the above-mentioned problem, the present invention is to adopt the variable wavelength type laser light source device composed of a semiconductor laser and a diffraction grating, wherein a polarization direction converter and a polarized beam splitter are placed in the optical path between the above semiconductor laser and the above diffraction grating.

    摘要: In holographic recording, it is important to form stably an interference fringe between a reference beam and a signal beam in a holographic storage medium. To suppress factors degrading stability of the interference fringe, such as fluctuation of atmospheric air, position displacement of optical components and the like during propagation of the reference and signal beams, an optical pickup and an optical information recording/reproducing apparatus adopt an optical system structure providing a higher proportion of optical components shared by the reference and signal beams optical path than conventional optical system structure. To increase the proportion of shared optical components, the signal beam and the reference beam pass through the PBS prism as parallel beams and a concave lens is placed on a reference beam path just before the objective lens.

    摘要: An optical disc device and information recording/reading method for an optical disc in which a recording layer is formed through volume recording by aligning recording tracks, which hold information, in a homogenous recording region that does not internally have a layer defining a recording position. The information recording method includes a step in which a first recording layer forming a complex recording layer is formed by forming a recording track while recording information by focusing a main beam at a predetermined depth position in the recording region, and a step in which a second recording layer forming the complex recording layer is formed by forming a recording track while recording information by focusing the main beam at a depth position that is separated from the first recording layer in a depth direction by a depth offset greater than ⅙ of a wavelength of the main beam.

    摘要: An optical pick-up which permits the relative position of a diffracting optical element and a photodetector to be adjusted by feedback control with signals which are generated when more than one kind of diffracted light differing in order is received, the diffracted light occurring as the reflected light from the optical disc is divided and diffracted by the diffracting optical element having multiple regions. The photodetector which detects the light beam passing through the central region of the diffracting optical element and generates RF signals is juxtaposed with sub-photodetectors, so that they receive reflected stray light from out-of-focus layers and perform computation to calculate the reflected stray light component which the RF signal detector receives, thereby detecting only the component of signals of the reflected light from a target layer.
