摘要: Disclosed is a silicon nitride sintered body produced by subjecting a green compact of a mixed powder composed of 1) a silicon nitride powder having a percentage .alpha. crystallization of 93% or more and a mean grain diameter of 0.7 .mu.m or less and 2) 5 to 15% by weight in total of a first sintering aid selected from among rare earth element, yttrium oxide and lanthanide oxides and a second sintering aid consisting of aluminum oxide or nitride and at least one selected from among oxides and nitrides of Mg, Ca and Li, to primary sintering in a nitrogen gas atmosphere under a pressure of 1.1 atm or less at 1500.degree. to 1700.degree. C.; and subjecting the sintered body to secondary sintering in a nitrogen gas atmosphere under a pressure of 10 atm or more at the primary sintering temperature or below, thereby giving a sintered body wherein the relative density of the sintered body is 99% or more and the precipitation ratio of an .alpha.-Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 (including .beta.'-sialon) crystal phase ranges from 1:3 to 1:8 in terms of the peak intensity ratio in X-ray diffraction.

摘要: Disclosed is a process for preparation of a sintered silicon nitride. The process comprises the steps of:mixing a powder of silicon nitride with a powder of a sintering agent;compacting the obtained mixture; andsintering the compacted mixture in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.The feature of the process is that the powder of the sintering agent includes a powder mixture of oxide and/or hydroxide of at least two kinds of metals which has been prepared by co-precipitation.Due to the use of the co-precipitated powder as the sintering agent, it is possible to obtain a sintered silicon nitride having an excellent strength and uniformity in quality. The obtained sintered silicon nitride is preferably used as an engineering ceramic.

摘要: A silicon nitride ceramic sliding member which includes Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 grains as a main component and is shaped or controlled in dimensions through hot plastic working wherein the Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 particles mainly includes .beta.-type columnar crystal grains. The ceramic sliding member is produced by the step (I) of preparing a preform made of silicon nitride ceramic sintered body including Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 grains as a main component wherein the average grain size (average grain size in minor axis in the case of .beta.-type columnar crystal grains) of the Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 grains is at most 0.5 .mu.m, and the hot plastic working step (II) of placing the preform in a mold and effecting hot plastic deformation of the preform for shaping or dimensional control thereof while simultaneously increasing the average aspect ratio of the .beta.-type columnar crystal grains. The resultant sliding member has excellent sliding properties, a high mechanical strength and a high reliability at a low cost without resort to grinding or the like for shaping thereof.

摘要: This invention aims at providing a sliding component having a crowning shape formed by applying surface quenching treatment to a portion made of a steel, and a production method thereof. The shape and the quantity of crowning can be controlled by heat-treatment or machining after the surface quenching. The sliding component may be made of a steel alone, or may be formed in such a manner that at least one portion of members forming the crowning-shaped sliding face by the surface quenching is joined or fitted to a sliding component main body made of the steel, and its material is a ceramic.

摘要: The invention aims to offer a method to manufacture a high-strength, high-reliability and low cost silicon nitride based sintered body which is not affected by the amount of metal impurities contained in the silicon nitride powder, without using high-purity silicon nitride powder, and can be sintered for a short sintering time. The invention uses silicon nitride and sintering aids, and the powder mixture containing 500-5000 ppm metal impurities is sintered at temperatures ranging from 1300.degree.-1900.degree. C., and under the conditions wherein the product of sintering temperature and sintering time ranges from 1.times.10.sup.5 to 10.times.10.sup.5 .degree. C. .multidot.seconds.

摘要: The present invention provides an improved adjusting shim used in a valve train for an internal combustion engine for an automobile. The adjusting shim produced from a base material consisting of a ceramic material containing 80 to 98 wt. % of silicon nitride and/or sialon and has a porosity of not more than 3%, a bending strength of not less than 1.0 GPa and an impact compressive elastic limit (Hugoniot elastic limit) of not less than 15 GPa, wherein the base material is provided on the surface thereof which contacts a cam with a ceramic surface layer having a composition different from that of the base material and a hardness lower than that of the base material. The adjusting shim of the present invention enables a power loss of a valve train to be minimized; the abrasion resistance thereof to be improved; and the fuel economy, the performance and durability of an internal combustion engine to be improved.

摘要: The present invention relates to a silicon nitride sintered body [wherein the composition of Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 -first aid (Y.sub.2 O.sub.3 +MgO)-second aid (at least one of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and AlN)] falls within a range defined by lines joining points A, B, C and D in FIG. 1, the crystal phase of the sintered body contains both .alpha.-Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 and .beta.'-sialon, and the relative density is 98% or more. This sintered body is produced by subjecting a green compact of the above-described source to primary sintering in a nitrogen gas atmosphere at 1300 to 1700.degree. C. so that the relative density reaches 96% or more, and the precipitation ratio of the .alpha.-Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 crystal phases to the .beta.'-sialon crystal phase in the sintered body is in the range of from 40:60 to 80:20; and then subjecting the primary sintered body to secondary sintering in a nitrogen gas atmosphere at 1300 to 1700.degree. C. so that the relative density reaches 98% or more. The sintered body has superior strength properties, especially at ordinary temperatures, and can be produced with a high productivity in a high yield at a low cost.

摘要: There are provided a dust core in which, even if the surface of a heat-treated compact is ground, the insulation between soft magnetic particles on the ground surface can be ensured in the grinding step, and a method for producing the dust core.The method includes a preparation step of preparing a heat-treated compact 100 by compacting soft magnetic particles having an insulation coating and heating the resultant compact to a predetermined temperature; and a machining step of removing part of the heat-treated compact 100 using a working tool 2. The machining step is performed while an electric current is supplied with a conductive fluid 7L between the heat-treated compact 100 serving as an anode and a working tool 2 that machines the heat-treated compact 100 or a first counter electrode 5 that faces the working tool 2 with a distance therebetween, the working tool 2 or the first counter electrode 5 serving as a cathode. A bridge portion that connects soft magnetic particles to each other is removed through the supply of an electric current, the soft magnetic particles being adjacent to each other along a machined surface of the heat-treated compact 100.

摘要: An attachment coupler is attached to an end of an arm of a working machine. An attachment having two attachment pins in parallel can be detachably attached to the attachment coupler. The attachment coupler includes a first U-shaped portion that engages with and supports one of the attachment pins sideways, and a second U-shaped portion that receives the other attachment pin downwardly. The second U-shaped portion includes a rotary hook that opens and closes the opening of the second U-shaped portion. The rotary hook includes an engagement securing member that engages with and secures the rotary hook when the rotary hook closes the opening of the second U-shaped portion and when the rotary hook opens the opening of the second U-shaped portion, and a bolt securing member that secures the rotary hook with a bolt when the rotary hook closes the opening of the second U-shaped portion.
