    摘要: A user designates a two-sided copying mode, a reduced-scale copying mode, a vertical or horizontal binding direction, and the like from a control panel. An original image is magnification-varied at a designated reduction magnification, and the reduced image is stored in a page memory. In the case of an odd page (front surface) in a single-sided or two-sided copying mode, a &ggr; conversion circuit reads out and outputs stored image data in the normal order, thus forming images. On the other hand, in the case of an even page (back page) in the two-sided copying mode, whether the horizontal or vertical binding direction is designated is checked. If the binding direction agrees with the reversing axis direction of a paper sheet upon copying, images are read out in the normal order. When the vertical binding direction is designated, images are read out in an order opposite to the normal order, so that each page is rotated through 180°. Images are copied in the designated layout.

A plurality of images having undergone different color space compression processes are sent to a monitor via a video interface. The monitor displays a plurality of images on one screen. The user selects an image having a desired color appearance from the plurality of images displayed on the monitor. The CPU converts the color reproduction range of the input image into the color reproduction range of the selected image, and supplies the resultant data to a printer via a printer interface. With this processing, a preview function is provided for forming an image having a desired color appearance.

    摘要: An image processing apparatus extracts an edge or line portion of an image, judges grayness of the image, and processes the image according to outputs of the means used for the edge- or line-extraction and grayness-determination. The further processing may, for example, comprise undercolor removal and/or black-addition. Edge extraction can be performed by use of a Laplacian. The grayness can be judged by, for example, providing a colorlessness signal formed from two color component signals. Extraction of a line region, instead of Laplacian edge extraction, can be performed, for example, by use of an Hadamard transformation. Also, the invention more generally includes detecting grayness of an image, detecting other characteristics of the image, and judging additional characteristics of the image according to the first two determinations.

    摘要: There is provided an image processing apparatus for executing a process to an input image in accordance with the characteristics thereof, comprising: an input device to input image data; a detector to detect the characteristics of the input image; and a processor to execute first and second processes such as brightness correcting processes or color balance correcting processes for the input image data on the basis of weights corresponding to the characteristics of the input image. When the weight of the first process is large, the weight of the second process is set to a small value. As the characteristics of the input image are deviated from a predetermined condition, the processor sets the weight of the first process to a small value and sets the weight of the second process to a large value. With the apparatus, the brightness and the color balance of the input image are preferably corrected and a natural image can be output irrespective of the characteristics of the image reading apparatus.
