Abstract:
A system and method for detecting customer drive-off/walk-off from a customer queue. An embodiment includes acquiring images of a retail establishment, said images including at least a portion of a customer queue region, determining a queue configuration within the images, analyzing the images to detect entry of a customer into the customer queue, tracking a customer detected in the customer queue as the customer progresses within the queue, analyzing the images to detect if the customer leaves the customer queue, and generating a drive-off notification if a customer leaves the queue.
Abstract:
A method for computing output using a non-contact (invisible) input signal includes acquiring depth data of a scene captured by a depth-capable sensor. The method includes generating a temporal series of depth maps corresponding to the depth data. The method includes generating at least one volumetric attribute from the depth data. The method includes generating an output based on the volumetric attribute to control actions.
Abstract:
A method and structure for estimating parking occupancy within an area of interest can include the use of at least two image capture devices and a processor (e.g., a computer) which form at least part of a network. A method for estimating the parking occupancy within the area of interest can include the use of vehicle entry and exit data from the area of interest, as well as an estimated transit time for vehicles transiting through the area of interest without parking.
Abstract:
A system and method for detecting electronic device use by a driver of a vehicle including acquiring an image including a vehicle from an associated image capture device positioned to view oncoming traffic, locating a windshield region of the vehicle in the captured image, processing pixels of the windshield region of the image for computing a feature vector describing the windshield region of the vehicle, applying the feature vector to a classifier for classifying the image into respective classes including at least classes for candidate electronic device use and candidate electronic device non-use, and outputting the classification.
Abstract:
A method for removing false foreground image content in a foreground detection process performed on a video sequence includes, for each current frame, comparing a feature value of each current pixel against a feature value of a corresponding pixel in a background model. The each current pixel is classified as belonging to one of a candidate foreground image and a background based on the comparing. A first classification image representing the candidate foreground image is generated using the current pixels classified as belonging to the candidate foreground image. The each pixel in the first classification image is classified as belonging to one of a foreground image and a false foreground image using a previously trained classifier. A modified classification image is generated for representing the foreground image using the pixels classified as belonging to the foreground image while the pixels classified as belonging to the false foreground image are removed.
Abstract:
A system and method for optimizing video-based tracking of an object of interest are provided. A video of a regularized motion environment that comprise multiple video frames is acquired and an initial instance of an object of interest in one of the frames is then detected. An expected size and orientation of the object of interest as a function of the location of the object is then determined. The location of the object of interest is then determined in a next subsequent frame using the expected size and orientation of the object of interest.
Abstract:
A method for detecting parking occupancy includes receiving video data from a sequence of frames taken from an associated image capture device monitoring a parking area. The method includes determining at least one candidate region in the parking area. The method includes comparing a size of the candidate region to a size threshold. In response to size of the candidate region meeting and exceeding the size threshold, the method includes determining whether the candidate region includes one of at least one object and no objects. The method includes classifying at least one object in the candidate region as belonging to one of at least two vehicle-types. The method further includes providing vehicle occupancy information to a user.
Abstract:
Provided is a method and system for efficient localization in still images. According to one exemplary method, a sliding window-based 2-D (Dimensional) space search is performed to detect a parked vehicle in a video frame acquired from a fixed parking occupancy video camera including a field of view associated with a parking region.
Abstract:
A system and method of providing annotated trajectories by receiving image frames from a video camera and determining a location based on the image frames from the video camera. The system and method can further include the steps of determining that the location is associated with a preexisting annotation and displaying the preexisting annotation. Additionally or alternatively, the system and method can further include the steps of generating a new annotation automatically or based on a user input and associating the new annotation with the current location.
Abstract:
A system and method for object tracking and timing across multiple camera views includes local and global tracking modules for tracking the location of objects as they traverse particular regions of interest within an area of interest. A local timing module measures the time spent with each object within the area captured by a camera. A global timing module measures the time taken by the tracked object to traverse the entire area of interest or the length of the stay of the object within the area of interest.
