摘要: A transmission-reflection type liquid crystal display device which may be driven as a transmission type or reflection type display by user selection, according to an external environment. Each pixel contains a reflector to reflect ambient light when the display is used as a reflection-type display. Each pixel also contains a light transmitting region to allow light to pass by the reflector when the display is used as a transmission-type display.

摘要: A transparent reflective liquid crystal display device (LCD) is provided that is adaptive for improving a light efficiency and color purity. In the device, a first circular polarizer transmits circular-polarized light having a first direction input from the backlight unit while reflecting circular-polarized light having a second direction contrary to the first direction. A second circular polarizer is arranged in opposition to the first circular polarizer to transmit the circular-polarized light having the second direction while reflecting the circular-polarized light having the first direction. A circular-polarizing color filter is provided at one side of the second circular polarizer to extract circular-polarized light of a specific visible light wavelength band in the circular-polarized light having the first direction. A reflecting member is arranged in opposition to the second circular polarizer to reflect external light, and has a hole formed in opposition to the circular-polarizing color filter to transmit the circular-polarized light having the specific visible light wavelength band via the hole. An absorptive color filter and a CLC color filter may be used in the LCD to improve color purity.

摘要: A multi-layered image display device for realizing a multi-layered image with a depth by overlapping a plurality of two-dimensional images includes: a display which can be selectively transparent and produce a first two-dimensional image through a combination of a plurality of pixels, a screen which is disposed behind the display so as to be overlapped in a forward-backward direction with the display; and a projector which is disposed behind the screen so as to project a second two-dimensional image on the screen. By adopting a screen and a projector instead of a rear display and a backlight unit, the cross stripes of the rear display can be removed so as to prevent the occurrence of the interference pattern (Moire phenomenon) due to the interference of different pixel patterns, and an additional diffuse layer can be omitted so that an assembling process of the multi-layer image display device can be simplified.

摘要: The invention provides a display device including a plurality of liquid crystal display (LCD) panels connected together, wherein each of the LCD panels has a standardized structure while being cut in an invisible region where there is no gate integrated circuit (IC), one of the cut LCD panels is set as a reference LCD panel, and another one of the cut LCD panels, which laterally adjoins the reference LCD panel, is 180° rotated such that a lateral cut portion of the reference LCD panel and a lateral cut portion of the adjoining LCD panel come into contact with each other, and an image branch relay board is connected to the LCD panels, to communicate with the LCD panels such that image information is branched to the reference LCD panel and the adjoining LCD panel. A plurality of LCD panels, which is provided in the form of generally-standardized products, are connected to constitute a display device having a large screen such that the display device has an extension region extended not only in a lateral direction, but also in a downward direction with respect to a reference panel. Accordingly, there is an effect of providing a display panel having a relatively large screen while overcoming a drawback encountered in a conventional tiled LCD device in which the tiled LCD device is extended only in one direction, so that it only has a rectangular shape.
