Abstract:
Provided are a method of generating a low-capacity model capable of identifying an object with high accuracy, and creating an image database using the model, a processing program for executing the method, and a processing apparatus that executes the process. The method for compiling an image database that is used for a three-dimensional object recognition includes a steps of extracting vectors as local descriptors from a plurality of images each image showing a three-dimensional object as seen from different viewpoints, a model creating step of evaluating the degree of contribution of each local descriptor to identification of the three-dimensional object, and creating a three-dimensional object model systematized to ensure approximate nearest neighbor search using the individual vectors which satisfy criteria, and a registration step of adding an object identifier to the created object model and registering the object model into an image database. In the model creating step, the local descriptor to be used in the model is selected based on the contributions of the individual vectors which are evaluated in such a way that when a vector extracted from one image of one three-dimensional object is an approximate nearest neighbor to another vector relating to an image of the three-dimensional object seen from a different viewpoint, the vector has a positive contribution, whereas when the vector is an approximate nearest neighbor to another vector relating to a different three-dimensional object, the vector has a negative contribution. The processing program is designed to execute the method, and the processing apparatus executes the process.

An exhaust gas treating apparatus includes an adsorption tower (20) that has an adsorption layer filled with an adsorbent and a heat transfer path through which heat is transferred to the adsorption layer. The apparatus performs switching among the following processes: an adsorption process of introducing an exhaust gas from an engine (10) into the adsorption layer of the adsorption tower so that target components to be treated, including NOX, in the exhaust gas are adsorbed by the adsorbent; a desorption process of introducing the exhaust gas into the heat transfer path of the adsorption tower to heat the adsorption layer and introducing a desorption gas into the heated adsorption layer so that the target components are desorbed from the adsorbent, and a cooling process of introducing a cooling gas into the adsorption layer of the adsorption tower to cool the adsorption layer and introducing the cooling gas that has passed through the adsorption layer into an inlet of the engine. Thus, the apparatus can treat the exhaust gas with a small amount of energy consumption and without performing a wet treatment.

The OFDM scheme based communication system is currently being put into practical use because of its effective use of frequencies and its enhanced resistance to multipath. However, since the OFDM scheme treats multiplexed signals with overlapped spectra, the orthogonality between carriers are corrupted and the error rate characteristic is degraded in the presence of CFO. Furthermore, since locally oscillated signals different by a phase of π/2 are difficult to obtain in demodulating the I/Q signal, an imbalance is caused between the I/Q signals, resulting in degradation in the error rate characteristic. The invention suggests a novel pilot signal, and a method for analytically determining compensation values for CFO and I/Q imbalance and compensating for those distortions using the resulting values. Furthermore, the invention is applicable not only to the OFDM scheme but also to any protocol that involves pilot signals.

A document/image retrieval method for retrieving a document/image corresponding to a captured digital image from a database by comparing features calculated based on feature points of the captured digital image with features preliminarily calculated based on feature points of each of documents and/or images stored in the database, the method comprising: extracting the feature points from the captured digital image; defining a local set of feature points for each of the extracted feature points; selecting feature points from the defined local set to define a feature point subset of the local set; determining invariant values as values characterizing the defined subset for combinations of the feature points in the subset, the invariant values being invariant to a geometric transformation; calculating a feature by combining the determined invariant values; and performing a voting process on the documents and/or images in the database based on the preliminarily calculated features of the documents and/or images; whereby the document/image corresponding to the captured digital image is retrieved from the database.

A swallowing diagnosis apparatus includes a controller which enables a first swallowing determination process of determining whether or not there is an aspiration risk in the swallowing on the basis of respiratory phases before and after a period in which swallowing has been estimated as having occurred; and a second swallowing determination process of extracting reference information including at least one of the sound information and the respiration information in a predetermined period including the period in which swallowing has been estimated as having occurred, obtaining a feature quantity from the extracted reference information, and performing a machine learning process on the obtained feature quantity to determine whether or not there is a possibility of dysphagia in the swallowing; and a display control process of causing a determination result obtained by the first swallowing determination process and a determination result obtained by the second swallowing determination process to be displayed.

The purpose of the present invention is to collect a plurality of microscopic objects dispersed in a liquid by light irradiation, and also trap them. A collecting device for bacteria collects a plurality of bacteria dispersed in a sample liquid. The collecting device is provided with a laser beam source that emits laser beam and a honeycomb polymer film constituted so as to be able to hold the liquid. Walls prescribing pores for trapping the plurality of bacteria dispersed in the liquid are formed on the honeycomb polymer film, and also a thin film that includes a material for converting light from the laser beam source to heat is formed on the honeycomb polymer film. The thin film heats the liquid of the sample through the conversion of the laser beam from the laser beam source to heat, thereby causing a convection in the liquid.

There is provided a Ni-based intermetallic alloy having a dual multi-phase microstructure containing a primary precipitate L12 phase and an (L12+D022) eutectoid microstructure. Thus, the Ni-based intermetallic alloy contains Ni, Al, and V as basic elements, and the contents of Ni, Al, and V are controlled to form the dual multi-phase microstructure. The Ni-based intermetallic alloy further contains at least one of Zr and Hf in addition to the basic elements.
