Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit configured to form an image on a sheet, a duplex conveyance path through which the sheet having the image formed by the image forming unit on a first side passes when an image is formed on a second side that is a back side of the first side, a guiding member provided along the duplex conveyance path, a reversing roller pair capable of rotating in a forward direction and in a reverse direction, and a conveyance roller pair provided on the duplex conveyance path, wherein at least one of the reversing roller pair is inclined to the width direction so that, in the width direction, the side end of the sheet being conveyed by the reversing roller pair rotating in the reverse direction moves closer to the contact portion.
Abstract:
A sheet conveying apparatus has a conveying rotating member, a follower rotating member which is disposed to face the conveying rotating member, a support member which passes through a hollow portion of the follower rotating member and supports the follower rotating member, a pressure portion which biases the support member toward the conveying rotating member so that the follower rotating member comes into contact with the conveying rotating member a first bearing portion which is disposed between an outer peripheral surface of the support member and an inner peripheral surface of the follower rotating member and rotatable supports the follower rotating member with respect to the support member, and a second bearing portion which movably supports the support member and has a slide friction coefficient higher than that of the bearing portion.
Abstract:
An equalizer roll to be used in manufacturing for providing equal tension across a web during winding operations such as used in polymer film applications, corrugators, paper machines, printing presses, cloth winders, and metal winding operations. A common axis shaft is mounted horizontally on two bearings or clamped rigid supports allowing for rotation. Mounted in the center of the axis shaft is a bearing assembly having convex and concave portions disposed within a sleeve. The bearing assembly is centrally mounted inside a hollow cylinder or roll machined to be in balance with respect to the centrally disposed bearing assembly. The mating of the concave and convex portions of the bearing permits a selected degree of lateral rotation in a range of from about 1 degree to about 10 degrees. As the web runs over the roll, any imbalance of lateral tension will cause the roll to pivot at it's center permitting the roll to move upward on the side of least tension until the web tension is equalized across the entire roll.
Abstract:
A thickness monitoring system for measuring the thickness of layer disposed on both sides of a two sided strip includes a thickness measuring device, a first set of guide rollers mounted to guide the strip past the thickness measuring device along a first path, a set of guide pulleys mounted to invert the strip and to offset the strip laterally with respect to the first path, and a second set of guide rollers which guide the inverted strip past the thickness measuring device along the second path. The thickness measuring device is mounted for movement along a third path which is transverse to the first and second paths to allow the thickness measuring device to monitor either side of the strip by positioning the measuring device in alignment with the respective one of the first and second paths.
Abstract:
An adjusting roller pair, particularly for a rotation folding apparatus in which each roller has an axle, at the ends of which adjusting devices are supported by sleeves to adjust the roller horizontally, vertically and axially. Each roller has a roller body formed of two portions and a non-rotating internal tube. The two portions of the roller body are supported at their ends and horizontally adjustable. The pair of adjusting rollers are employed when non-uniform web tensions transverse to the material web, such as paper, are compensated.
Abstract:
A process for preparing a tape guide cylinder is disclosed, which includes the steps of deep-drawing a sheet metal material progressively to form an elongated cylinder with a bottom, subjecting the resulting cylinder to flange-machining to form a flange at its open end, thereafter removing the bottom of the cylinder, subsequently trimming the flange from the cylinder, and finally subjecting the resulting cylinder at either of its ends to a beat-machining for finishing the shape of the elongated cylinder. The tape guide cylinder thus prepared may further be subjected at its circumference, to a precision finish for providing an outer diameter of less than 6 mm but more than 5.2 mm.
