Abstract:
A method is described for making paper or paper board by applying a composition containing enzyme and cationic coagulant to papermaking pulp prior to paper forming to preferably improve drainage, retention, or both. Sheets of pulp from which paper or paperboard products are made with the method can exhibit excellent drainage, excellent retention of pulp fines, or both. The method also can be applied to other pulp treatments, such as waste water treatments. A system for making such treatments of paper furnish is also provided.
Abstract:
Provided is thermosetting urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin binder formulation, preferably prepared with modified styrene-maleic anhydride. The formulation has a viscosity in the range of from 3 to 10 cP and a surface tension of from 35 to 50 mN/m, and is prepared using a UF resin composition exhibiting a viscosity of from 175 to 250 cP.
Abstract:
Aqueous slurries of finely divided fillers which are at least partly covered by anionic latices, the slurries being obtainable by treating aqueous slurries of finely divided fillers with at least one anionic latex with a glass transition temperature of −5 to −50° C., preparation of the aqueous slurries and their use as an additive to the paper stock in the production of filler-containing paper, filler-containing cardboard or filler-containing board by draining the paper stock.
Abstract:
Several Michael addition adducts of vinylamines with α,β. -unsaturated alkyl carbonyl compounds including amides, esters and acids, particularly acrylamide are presented. Additionally, a process for producing these Michael addition adducts is described. These adducts are generally useful in the manufacture of paper and are particularly useful as dry strength additives to make paperboard products using a papermaking machine.
Abstract:
A cationic copolymers of acrylamide obtained by the Hofmann rearrangement, using an alkali and/or alkaline earth hydroxide and an alkali and/or alkaline earth hypohalide, are provided. The copolymers can be used as strengthening agents for paper and/or coagulants. The copolymers have a desalination coefficient (Cd) higher than 0.6, higher than 0.65, or higher than 0.7.

Abstract:
Filler-containing paper wherein it contains the following component (A) and the following component (B) and, furthermore, the ash content of the paper is 3-40 wt %. (A) Polymer obtained by 20 to 100% hydrolysis of the total formyl groups in a polymer having at least N-vinylformamide as a polymerization component (B) Titanium dioxide and/or calcium carbonate.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to ion triggerable, water-dispersible cationic polymers. The present invention is also directed to a method of making ion triggerable, water-dispersible cationic polymers and their applicability as binder compositions. The present invention is further directed to fiber-containing fabrics and webs comprising ion triggerable, water-dispersible binder compositions and their applicability in water-dispersible personal care products, such as wet wipes.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a modified diallyl-N,N-disubstituted ammonium halide polymer and use of the polymer in combination with one or more high molecular weight, water soluble cationic, anionic, nonionic, zwitterionic or amphoteric polymers for increasing retention and drainage in a papermaking furnish.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an aqueous composition comprising at least one finely divided filler and at least one water-soluble amphoteric copolymer, a process for the preparation of such a composition and its use as an additive in the production of paper, cardboard and board.
