    摘要: A hold down mechanism for releasably securing a refractory lining to a furnace. The hold down mechanism can comprise plate segments that form a composite plate. The plate segments can comprise a first plate segment structured to articulate relative to a second plate segment. Furthermore, a gap in the hold down mechanism can be structured to adjust in response to a thermal condition of the composite plate, such as thermal expansion or thermal contraction of at least one plate segment. The composite plate can also comprise an articulation plate pivotally coupled to at least one of the first plate segment and the second plate segment via a pivot and/or a slot and pin engagement. The composite plate can further comprise a third plate segment and a second articulation plate pivotally coupled to at least one of the second plate segment and the third plate segment.

    摘要: Improvements to an insulating cover for covering an opening in a torpedo car are disclosed. The insulating cover includes upper and lower wire mesh layers and an insulating layer positioned between the wire mesh layers. A support rod may be provided which extends beyond the ends of the upper and lower wire mesh layers. A pair of support rods in an nullXnull configuration may be provided which extend beyond the side edges of the upper and lower wire mesh layers. Tie devices secure the wire mesh layers together and hold the insulating layer in position. At least one ferromagnetic plate is provided, whereby each ferromagnetic plate provides a lift point for lifting the insulating cover, such as with an electromagnet or the like. Methods for constructing the embodiments of the insulating cover are also disclosed.

    摘要: A heat shield configuration, particularly for protecting supporting structures and structural parts of gas turbine plants against a hot fluid. The heat shield has an inner lining which consists of a heat-resistant material and which is composed of plate-shaped heat-shield elements resistant to high temperatures and are disposed next to one another with gaps in-between. The heat-shield elements cover the entire area of the structural part. The heat shield is anchored so as to be thermally movable to the supporting structures and parts by bolts. The heat-shield element is formed of an erosion-proof and corrosion-proof material. An insulating brick formed of a refractory ceramic is disposed in each case between each heat-shield element and the supporting structure or parts.

    摘要: A weldable abrasion resistant ceramic brick is formed with spaced recesses extending angularly into the brick to undercut a surface thereof and interlock with a weldable insert having angularly extending projections mating with and insertable into the recesses. Each recess may be defined by a wall inclined into the undercut for camming an aligned projection into the undercut. The insert and brick may be interlocked and thereafter welded to a substrate, or the insert may first be welded to the substrate and thereafter interlocked with the brick. The invention is particularly useful with comparatively thin abrasion resistant wear plates that heretofore could not be welded satisfactorily to a substrate.
