Abstract:
A fluid sampling device having a first conduit configured to couple an outlet of a fluid source to a sample inlet port; a second conduit configured to couple a sample outlet port to an inlet of the fluid source; an expansion chamber including an inlet and an outlet coupled to the first and second conduits by a valve assembly; and a pressure relief valve configured to couple the outlet of the expansion chamber to the inlet of the fluid source. The fluid sampling device facilitates acquisition of a fluid sample and subsequent purging of its internal components while inhibiting the release of sample fluid to the surrounding environment, thereby protecting the environment and sampling personnel from harmful chemical release. The fluid sampling device may facilitate a sample acquisition process that provides closed-loop flush and expansion operations for obtaining a representative sample at the appropriate fill density of the sample vessel.
Abstract:
A sampler including an ejector and a sample channel extending to the ejector, which are placeable in a mixture of particles of a solid and a medium, the medium being a gas and/or a liquid. The ejector includes at least one inlet and an outlet. The ejector takes a mixture sample by using vacuum via the inlet and discharges it via the outlet so as to make the mixture sample flow from the inlet towards the outlet. The sample channel takes a desired measuring sample from the mixture sample flowing in the ejector, the solid particles and the medium being at least partly separable from one another in the ejector on the basis of the flow and inertia in the mixture sample.
Abstract:
A vacuum jacketed gas line adaptor with a flange cover for an existing pipeline sample take-off probe encasing a sample line and hermetically sealed to a vacuum valve housing having an sealable access port and containing a vented bleed valve and a block valve, fluidly connected to the sample line and a length of vacuum jacketed tubing sealing connected to the valve housing and in vacuum communication therewith, where the vacuum jacketed tubing surrounds the sample line to provide thermal isolation from the ambient for the sample line to a sample vaporizer.
Abstract:
A fluid mixing device includes a mixing element and a pathway for collecting a sample of fluid with an inlet end at a point where the fluid is well mixed. In an example embodiment, the pathway is provided through a body of the mixing element.

Abstract:
There is described a duct detector (1) and components (2, 3, 6) for duct detectors. In one form the duct detector (1) includes: a port unit (3) and detector unit (2). The port unit (3) is mountable to a duct in use so as to position one or more ports in the duct. The detector unit (2) includes a detection region. The port unit (3) and detector unit (2) are reconfigurable between a close coupled configuration and a separated configuration in which the units (2,3) are mountable with a variable separation between them and coupled by one or more elongate conduits (12A, 12B) to provide fluid communication between the units (2,3).
Abstract:
A fluid-tightly sealable sampling device for analysis of one or more substances in a fluid flow intended to pass through the sampling device is disclosed, wherein it comprises an adsorption device (1) which is hollow and is adapted to be provided with one or more reagents for adsorption of and reaction with said one or more substances in the fluid flow, a filter holder (2), which is hollow and is connected in a fluid-tight way with the adsorption device (1), a filter device (4) adapted to be provided with one or more reagents for adsorption of and reaction with said one or more substances in the fluid flow, a gasket (5) provided with at least one projection (6) engaged with at least one corresponding receiving slot in the filter holder (2), a first external cap (9) detachably connected with the inlet end of the sampling device in a fluid-tight way and a second external cap (13) detachably connected with the outlet end of the sampling device in a fluid-tight way.
Abstract:
Composite sampling of a fluid flowing through a conduit includes collecting, in a vessel coupled to the conduit through which the fluid is flowing, a first discrete sample of fluid from the conduit, the first discrete sample having a first selected volume, and collecting, in the vessel and at a first interval from the first sample, a second discrete sample of the fluid from the conduit, the second discrete sample having a second selected volume, thereby forming a composite sample in the vessel while the vessel is coupled to conduit. The composite sample includes the first discrete sample and the second discrete sample, and may include one or more additional discrete samples. An apparatus for collecting the composite sample includes a gas chromatograph, and is arranged such that the composite sample is provided to the gas chromatograph without removing the composite sample from the apparatus or transporting the composite sample.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for detecting pathogens and particles in a fluid in which particle size and intrinsic fluorescence of a simple particle is determined, comprising a sample cell; a light source on one side of the sample cell for sending a focused beam of light through the sample, whereby portions of the beam of light are scattered at various angles by particles of various sizes present in the sample area; a particle size detector positioned in the light path for detecting a portion of forward scattered light; a pair of fluorescence detectors positioned off axis from the beam of light; and a pair of elliptical mirrors positioned such that an intersection of the incoming particle stream and the light beam are at one foci of each ellipsoid, and one of said pair of fluorescence detectors lies at the other foci.
Abstract:
A thermophoretic sampler includes a sample assembly into which a removable sample cartridge can be inserted. The sample cartridge holds a substrate that, upon insertion, is exposed to a sample chamber. Thermophoresis is induced in the sample chamber, causing nanoparticles to be deposited on the substrate.
