Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a positioning method, a positioning server, a terminal and a base station. The positioning method includes: notifying a terminal of difference threshold information; receiving cell subset information that is determined by the terminal according to the difference threshold information, where the cell subset information is used to indicate a cell pair whose reference signal measured value exceeds the difference threshold, or the cell subset information is used to indicate a cell pair whose reference signal measured value does not exceed the difference threshold; determining a configuration of a PRS according to the cell subset information, and notifying the terminal of the configuration of the PRS; and receiving an RSTD that is obtained by the terminal through measurement according to the configuration of the PRS, and determining a location of the terminal according to the RSTD.

Abstract: A system comprising a first interrogator device that includes: a first antenna configured to transmit, to a target device, a first radio-frequency (RF) signal having a first center frequency; a second antenna configured to receive, from the target device, a second RF signal having a second center frequency that is a harmonic of the first frequency; and first circuitry configured to obtain, using the first RF signal and the second RF signal, a first mixed RF signal indicative of a first distance between the first interrogator and the target device. The system further comprises at least one processor configured to determine the first distance based, at least in part, on the first mixed RF signal, and determine a location of the target device based, at least in part, on the determined first distance.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting individuals in a target geographic location, such as a disastrous site, that identifies and locates potential victims using signals from the victims' cell phone utilizes an unmanned aerial vehicle controlled equipped with a retractable antenna component and a core network connection component. The retractable antenna component includes a mobile telephony base station and employs a smart antenna system so as to estimate the direction of arrival of all incoming signals. The core network connection component is operative to establish a wireless communication link with an Internet Protocol based core network of. When a victim's cell phones attempts to connect to the base station in order to access the core network, the location of the cell phone can be determined. The locations can be plotted on a map and based on the distribution of phones on the map, rescue efforts can be optimized.

First, second and third reference devices are operable to transmit a plurality of spread spectrum chirp signals frequency offset from one another. An object device is operable to receive the plurality of spread spectrum chirp signals, the object device is further operable to evaluate the received plurality of spread spectrum chirp signals for relative phase shifts between the plurality of spread spectrum chirp signals and derive a fine propagation time between the reference devices and the object device using the phase shifts between the spread spectrum chirp signals. The reference devices determine their location independent of the object device and determine the location of the object device as a function of each of their locations and of their range to the object device.
