Abstract:
A system, method, and computer-readable medium for providing recommendations based on a user interest. The method includes: generating at least one signature for at least one multimedia content element; querying, based on the generated at least one signature, a user profile to identify the user interest related to the at least one multimedia content element; generating at least one contextual insight based on the user interest, wherein each contextual insight indicates a user preference; searching for at least one content item that matches the at least one contextual insight; and causing a display of the at least one matching content item as a recommendation.
Abstract:
A method and system for identification of a deviation from a periodic behavior pattern in a sequence of multimedia content segments are provided. The method includes generating at least one signature for each multimedia content segment of the sequence of multimedia content segments; comparing at least two of the generated signatures to detect a periodic behavior pattern, wherein the compared at least two signatures represent consecutive multimedia content segments; and comparing at least one signature of at least a subsequently received multimedia content segment to at least one signature representing the periodic behavior pattern to identify a deviation from the periodic behavior pattern.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to verify and/or correct media lineup information are disclosed. An example method includes comparing presentation data representative of media output by a first set top box (STB) to reference data corresponding to a first station to determine whether the media presentation data corresponds to the reference data, the presentation data collected while the first STB was tuned to a first channel. The method further includes determining a second station that corresponds to the presentation data when the presentation data does not correspond to the reference data. The method further includes correcting a first channel map that relates the first channel to the first station by relating the first channel to the second station to create a second channel map, and correcting clickstream data that represents commands to other STBs using the second channel map.
Abstract:
An end user can sample a radio or television broadcast, generate a user representation of the broadcast sample, and send the user representation to a comparison system, which also receives known representations of content broadcast by multiple different stations. The known representations are stored in a continuous fashion, and represent actually broadcast content. The comparison system identifies the source of the broadcast sample by comparing the user representation to the known representations associated with each of the different stations using a bit count method, such as the Hamming distance. By comparing two representations of content that was actually broadcast, a broadcast source can be identified without requiring the use of watermarks, timestamps, or a database of discreet content items.
Abstract:
A system and method for tracking and managing playback of advertisements is disclosed. The system includes a processor configured to process the multimedia content, including advertisements, and generate a video signature/audio signature corresponding to the multimedia content. The video/audio signature is subsequently embedded/superimposed on at least one of the frames of the multimedia advertisement. The system further includes a plurality of trackers placed at predetermined geographic locations and configured to detect the broadcast television signal, and determine whether the video signature/audio signature is present in the broadcast signal. Subsequently, the tracker generates a report comprising at least a time stamp indicating the time of broadcast of the advertisement having the audio/video signature.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to generate signatures representative of media are disclosed. An example method includes transforming a block of samples from a time-domain representation to a frequency-domain representation comprising multiple frequency bands, determining a signature function by fitting a curve to at least a subset of the frequency bands, and calculating signature values for the block. Calculating the tuple includes calculating a first angle between a reference line and a first line that is tangent to the signature function at a first index, calculating a second angle between the reference line and a second line that is tangent to the signature function at a second index, calculating a third angle between the reference line and a third line that is tangent to the signature function at a third index, and creating the signature values based on the first angle, the second angle, and the third angle.
Abstract:
A method and system for identifying social trends are provided. The method includes collecting multimedia content from a plurality of data sources; gathering environmental variables related to the collected multimedia content; extracting visual elements from the collected multimedia content; generating at least one signature for each extracted visual element; generating at least one cluster of visual elements by clustering at least similar signatures generated for the extracted visual elements; correlating environmental variables related to visual elements in the at least one cluster; determining at least one social trend by associating the correlated environmental variables with the at least one cluster.
Abstract:
Media monitoring using multiple types of signatures is disclosed. Example media monitoring methods disclosed herein include reporting media signatures of a first type to monitor media presented by a media device, the media signatures of the first type being generated by a device meter from a sensed signal. Disclosed example media monitoring methods also include, after receiving an indication that a first media signature of the first type is associated with first reference media, generating media signatures of a second type, different from the first type, from the sensed signal to continue monitoring the media presented by the media device. Disclosed example media monitoring methods further include, in response to detecting that a source of the media presented by the media device has changed, generating the media signatures of the first type to continue monitoring the media presented by the media device.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to adaptively gather audience information data are disclosed. The disclosed methods and apparatus monitor system factor(s) and select one or more sensors from a plurality of sensors positioned to gather audience measurement data based on the monitored factor(s). Thus, the disclosed methods and apparatus adapt to the conditions they face by selecting an amount and/or type of audience measurement data they gather.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, devices, and computer program products provide social and interactive applications for mass media based on real time ambient-audio and/or video identification. In some implementations, a method includes: receiving descriptors identifying ambient audio associated with a media broadcast; comparing the descriptors to one or more reference descriptors; and determining a rating for the media broadcast based at least in part on the results of the comparison.
