Abstract: Disclosed are a system and a method for determining enabling or disabling electronic image stabilization (EIS) for a video frame. An image sensor of a camera system captures a video stream that comprises a plurality of video frames. An image processor determines availability of a computational resource that may process application of EIS on each video frame. Simultaneously, the image processor receives motion data of the camera system from a gyroscope. Based on the computational resource availability, a motion frequency threshold is determined. Based on the gyroscope motion data, a motion frequency of each video frame is estimated. The estimated motion frequency is compared to the determined motion frequency threshold. If the estimated motion frequency is greater than the determined motion frequency threshold, application of EIS is disabled. If the estimated motion frequency is less than or equal to the determined motion frequency threshold, application of EIS is enabled.

Abstract: This disclosure pertains to novel devices, methods, and computer readable media for performing raw camera noise reduction using a novel, so-called “alignment mapping” technique to more effectively separate structure from noise in an image, in order to aid in the denoising process. Alignment mapping allows for the extraction of more structure from the image and also the ability to understand the image structure, yielding information for edge direction, edge length, and corner locations within the image. This information can be used to smooth long edges properly and to prevent tight image details, e.g., text, from being overly smoothed. In alignment maps, the amount of noise may be used to compute thresholds and scaling parameters used in the preparation of the alignment map. According to some embodiments, a feature map may also be created for the image. Finally, the image may be smoothed using the created feature map as a mask.

Abstract: A system and method of removing noise in a bitstream is disclosed. Based on segment classifications of a bitstream, each segment or portion is encoded with a different encoder associated with the portion model and chosen from a plurality of encoders. The coded bitstream for each segment includes information regarding which encoder was used to encode that segment. A circuit for removing noise in video content includes a first filter connected to a first input switch and a first output switch, the first filter being in parallel with a first pass-through line, a second filter connected to a second input switch and a second output switch, the second filter connected in parallel with a second pass-through line, and a third filter connected to a third input switch in a third output switch.

Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to a method for designing cascaded bit sequences for cascaded digital displays. The method avoids unwanted interactions between cascaded sequences in cascaded digital displays. By using sequences with a particular structure, cascaded sequences can be designed such that no sequence is affected by the others. The following rules must be followed in constructing the sequence. First, the display devices must be frame-locked, so that the timing relationship between the sequences is maintained throughout each frame. Second, for each display device, the ratio of bit plane weights must remain constant, regardless of the pixel data displayed on the other display device(s). Third, the amount of bit plane skew must remain constant, regardless of the pixel data displayed on the other display device(s). Fourth, bit plane phased leakage must be compensated for or avoided.
