Abstract:
A hemispherical detector comprising a plurality of photodetectors arranged in a substantially contiguous array, the array being substantially in the shape of a half-sphere, the half-sphere defining a closed end and an open end, the open end defining a substantially circular face. Also provided is a method for constructing a hemispherical detector comprising the steps of making a press mold of the desired shape of the hemispherical detector, pouring a material into the press mold to form a cast, finishing the cast to remove any defects, coating the cast with a coating material, and attaching a plurality of photodetectors to the cast.
Abstract:
A stamper suppressed in surface roughness, uneven thickness, and deviation of circularity in inner circumference, a method of producing the same, an optical recording medium produced by molding using the stamper, and a method of producing the same, wherein a base member having a mirror polished main surface and comprising silicon or glass is formed with a resist film; the resist film is exposed by a focused electron beam, an ultraviolet ray laser, etc. and developed so as to form a resist film of a pattern corresponding to relief shapes; the mirror surface of the base member is processed to relief shapes (projecting regions and recessed regions) by dry etching etc. using the obtained resist film as a mask so as to obtain a stamper; the obtained stamper is used for injection molding to form a medium substrate; and an optical recording multilayer film and a protective layer are formed to thereby produce an optical recording medium.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a high-density disk that is structured to prevent a collision of an optical pickup's objective lens with the high-density disk if the disk is placed upside down in a disk device that is able to record and reproduce signals to/from the high-density disk. A high-density disk recording medium according to the present invention is structured such that, wherein a recording layer having high-density pit patterns is offset from a center plane of disk thickness, a center hole of the disk recording medium is asymmetric in shape with respect to the center plane where, for example, both entrances of the center hole have mutually different diameters.
Abstract:
There is provided a process of producing a ring shaped resin bonded magnetic member by molding a feed mixture 24 which contains a lubricant and a magnetic powder composite made of magnetic powder and a heat curable resin composition which is in a solid state at a room temperature. The process is characterized in that (1) heating an inner peripheral surface of the annular cavity 20 so as to transfer heat to the feed mixture 24 whereby heating the feed mixture to a temperature not lower than a softening temperature and below a curing temperature of the resin composition, and compressing the filled feed mixture after or during the heating; and (ii) cooling the inner peripheral surface so as to transfer heat from the heated and compressed feed mixture through the inner peripheral surface, whereby cooling the feed mixture to a temperature below the softening temperature of the resin composition so as to obtain a green compact having a ring shape.
Abstract:
This invention provides a mold for forming a contact lens comprising an overflow collector, which causes the overflow reactive mixture to be accumulated, and not to spread out as it would upon the typically flat surface of a prior art mold. This invention further provides a method of preventing the formation of contaminating pieces of overflow reactive mixture comprising the step of: preventing the overflow reactive mixture from spreading out on the mold.
Abstract:
The invention provides a reserve tank for engine coolant formed by a blow molding method in which an external surface of the reserve tank is colored simultaneously with blow molding process and thus painting is unnecessary, and a straddle-type all terrain vehicle equipped with the reserve tank. The method comprises the steps of placing a thermoplastic tube, called a nullparisonnull, between halves of an open mold, closing the mold halves, blowing the parison to expand the parison to the cavities of the mold halves, and cooling the parison to set the material, thereby forming the reserve tank. The method further comprises the steps of placing a thermoplastic film with a color which is different from that of the parison so that it covers at least one of the cavities before closing the molds, and expanding the thermoplastic film to the cavities along with the parison so that the film sticks thereto.
Abstract:
Fluid-forming compositions in a container attached to enclosed adjacent sheets are heated to relatively high temperatures to generate fluids (gases) that effect inflation of the sheets. Fluid rates to the enclosed space between the sheets can be regulated by the canal from the container. Inflated articles can be produced by a continuous, rather than batch-type, process.
Abstract:
An implant and a method for making and using the implant are disclosed for the repair of bone defects or voids, including defects or voids in the acetabular cup. The implant shapes and compositions of this invention provide advantages not present in impaction grafts and like implants known in the art. Also disclosed is an osteogenic, cross-linked composite implant, and methods of producing the same.
