摘要: A process for continuously manufacturing gypsum board having a gypsum core and at least one fibrous cover sheet comprising: (A) applying a defoaming agent to the top surface of the fibrous sheet as it advances along a production line; (B) depositing a foamed gypsum slurry onto the treated surface of the sheet; and (C) forming the composite of the foamed gypsum slurry and fibrous sheet into a gypsum board having a strong bond between the gypsum core and the fibrous cover sheet. The gypsum core-to-fibrous facer bond is highly resistant to failure upon humidification.

摘要: A plasma display includes a front panel having a glass body secured to a surface of a substrate. The glass body has a plurality of channels in the exposed surface thereof with upstanding ribs being between the channels. Conductive first electrodes are on the body with each electrode extending along the bottom of a separate channel. The first electrodes are preferably embedded in the glass body. A transparent front panel is over the back panel and is seated on and secured to the glass body. A plurality of spaced, parallel second electrodes extend between the front panel and the back panel substantially orthogonally to the first electrodes. Phosphors which emit different colors are coated on the channels and the channels are filled with a plasma gas.The back panel is formed of at least one and preferably a plurality of layers of a green tape of glass particles in a binder. The layers are stacked one on top of each other and the channels are formed in the surface of one of the layers. The stack is placed on a substrate and fired to bond the layers together and to the substrate. Prior to firing the stack, the first electrodes can be formed on one of the layers so that after firing the electrodes are embedded in the resulting glass body. For a body formed from a single layer of the green tape, the channels are formed in the surface of the layer which is opposite to the substrate.

摘要: A method and apparatus for bonding a cover (22) over the undulating surface of a foam cushion (10) includes placing the foam cushion (10) on a tool (18), piercing the cushion (10) with a plurality of needles (44), lifting the needles (44) to lift the cushion (10) as the cushion is frictionally retained on the needles (44), heating ambient air and ejecting the hot air from the needles (44) and into the cushion to elevate the temperature of the cushion. A compression plate (58) with holes (60) extending therethrough is disposed against the backside of the cushion (10) with the needles (44) extending through the holes (60). The needles (44) with the cushion (10) thereon are lowered to place the undulating surface of the cushion against an adhesive film (82) on the backside of the cover (22) so that heat is transferred from the cushion (10) to melt the adhesive. The needles (44) are extracted from the cushion (10) as the compression plate (58) is held against the backside of the cushion to hold the cushion (10) against the cover (22) and the tool (18) and immediately thereafter cool air is ejected from passages (68) in the compression plate (58) and into the cushion (10) to cure the adhesive and bond the cover (22) to the cushion (10).

摘要: A method is described by which it is possible to obtain modules comprising a body of synthetic material, including an electronic circuit, having two main faces absolutely smooth and without swellings at the place where the circuit is enclosed in the body. The body includes two sheets having either an impregnating resin or a certain quantity of gas or air, the electronic circuit being disposed between the two sheets and these being pressed together at a predetermined temperature. A module is thus obtained having at least one electronic circuit which can include a coil serving as an antenna, the module being able to be cut in credit card format and being able to serve as an identification badge. The same method and the same substances can be used to make a module having an electronic circuit with a housing, contact tracks being flush on one of the main faces of the module. Composite modules having the two types of circuits can also be made using the same method.

摘要: Apparatus and method for producing gypsum board, comprising apparatus for coating a cover sheet with a relatively high density gypsum slurry, apparatus for forming edge borders on the sheet with relatively high density gypsum slurry, and apparatus for forming a core on the coating and between the edge borders, the core comprising a relatively low density gypsum. The apparatus for coating the sheet comprises a relatively soft pressure roll and a relatively hard coating roll, the two rolls being normally pressed together to form a nip between them and a sheet to be coated passing through the nip. The pressure roll is below the sheet and the coating roll, and the axis of the pressure roll is offset from the axis of the coating roll in upstream direction of the movement of the sheet. The pressure roll has a surface area which contacts and moves in the same direction as the sheet, and the coating roll has a surface area which contacts and moves in the opposite direction of the sheet. A trough is formed between the upper side of the sheet and the coating roll, and a relatively high density gypsum is poured into the trough. The rotating coating roll picks up a quantity of the slurry from the trough and wipes it onto the sheet to form a high density gypsum coating.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for producing retroreflective sheeting useful for marking or the like of signs such as road signs and construction signs; number plates of vehicles such as motorcars and motorcycles; materials for safety such as clothes and life jackets; signboards, etc., and the method is a method for producing retroreflective sheeting, which comprises embedding glass beads substantially in a monolayer in a temporary support at least one surface of which is composed of a thermoplastic resin in such a manner that at least part of each bead is embedded in the thermoplastic resin; forming a vapor-deposited metal film on the surface in which the glass beads were embedded; superposing thereon a thermoformable support film; pressing the resultant superposed matter under heating to embed the vapor-deposited metal film portion of each of the glass beads in the support film; and peeling the temporary support from the superposed matter in such a manner that the glass beads remain in the support film, said method being characterized in that a thin film containing a coupling agent is previously formed on the vapor-deposited metal film of the temporary support in which the glass beads are embedded and on which the vapor-deposited metal film is then formed, and then the support film is superposed thereon.
