    摘要: An air conditioning system having an open condenser water circuit, a refrigeration unit, a closed heat exchange water circuit, and shunt circuits interconnecting the two water circuits to bypass the refrigeration unit, is provided with various side stream filtering arrangements for removing contaminants from the common water supply which have been picked up in passing through the cooling tower. One embodiment employs a centrifugal separator connected in shunt with the condenser water pump. Another embodiment employs a mechanical filter in shunt with a bypass line in the heat exchange water circuit with valving for selectively placing the filter in series with the condenser or the cooling coils. The second embodiment can be used in combination with the first embodiment. Improved backwashing and water conservation is achieved with the second embodiment by feeding backwash water during backwashing of the second filter through a further filter back to a point upstream of the condenser water pump but downstream of the cooling tower. Chemical treatment of the water is replaced by an electrodynamic-ultrasonic treatment device in side stream relation to a section of the open condenser water circuit. When required a closed loop filtration system is connected directly to the cooling tower drawing water from its sump and returning it directly after filtering. A water level sensor in the cooling tower controls a throttling valve downstream of the main pump to prevent the water from dropping below a safe level due to excessive load.

    摘要: A method of mounting a natural draft cooling tower having a tower mantle suspended on a central support projecting beyond the upper rim of the mantle which is clamped and tightened between a pressure ring at the upper rim of the mantle and a foundation. In order to mount the cooling tower mantle, the pressure ring lying on the ground and coaxially surrounding the central support is suspended on a lifting ring by means of a plurality of supporting cables exceeding in length the radius of the pressure ring. This lifting ring is guided on the central support, suspended on a plurality of pulling elements which are lifted by at least one lifting device detachably connected to the central support, as a mantle section corresponding to the advance of the lifting device is displayed. After the lower rim of the cooling tower mantle has been connected to the foundation, the mantle is tightened by the lifting device. By attaching the lifting ring to the central support, the cooling tower mantle is maintained in its pre-stressed position.

    摘要: Prefabricated, open-frame panel members of fireproof material such as concrete are stacked on edge to produce a number of sideby-side, multi-level uprights which, in turn, are laterally braced and interlocked into a rigid construction by prefabricated, open-frame bracing elements interposed between opposed panel members of each level of the uprights. The bracing elements of the structure are arranged in a number of parallel, diagonal series extending across the uprights with adjacent elements in each series being in partial juxtaposition with one another so that external forces applied to the structure are resisted by directing such forces diagonally into the ground along each series of cooperating elements. The sheer mass of the individual panel units and bracing elements contributes substantially to the structural rigidity of the completed structure, yet each unit and element may be readily hoisted into position by conventional industrial lifting equipment. Heat exchange fill suspended within the completed structure is disposed to receive water gravitating therethrough to cool the water as ambient air flows through the open structure to impinge upon the fill.

    摘要: A yieldable and expendable blade tip for use on the outer end of each of the blades of a cooling tower fan mounted within a fan cylinder. The tips each comprise a deformable body, preferably constructed of a synthetic resin material or the like, adapted to be mounted over the end of the blade, and releasably secured thereto by means of a binding strap and a series of fasteners extending into a respective blade. Fastener clearing slots are provided in the tip body to permit the latter to be shifted in or out longitudinally of the blade as required so that the tip may be positioned in close proximity to the inner surface of the fan cylinder. The blade tips prevent significant damage to the blades as well as the fan cylinder in case the latter is displaced by unexpectedly strong wind to an extent to permit engagement of the inner surface of the fan cylinder with the blade tips.
