摘要: A method and apparatus for producing a musical output is disclosed. The method and apparatus permit the creation, storage and retrieval of a first data structure representing a musical piece. The first data structure includes digital music information that represent musical notes of the musical piece. A second data structure can be created, stored and retrieved as well. The second data structure can include information different from the first data structure and the second data structure can be used to modify the first data structure and to produce a modified musical output. The apparatus and method also permit repeated use of the first data structure.

摘要: When a copy of music data recorded in an HDD to another electronic equipment is instructed, whether an accounting process is performed or a sound quality deteriorating process is performed is selected. When the accounting process is performed, after a predetermined accounting procedure was performed, a data copying process is performed and the data is outputted to a copy destination. When the accounting process is performed, a quality of the data is held to be almost identical to that of the original data. When the sound quality deteriorating process is selected, a data conversion is performed by a predetermined sound quality deteriorating process, the quality of the data is deteriorated, and the deteriorated data is outputted to the copy destination. In this case, the accounting is not performed. In case of the move of the data, the accounting process and the sound quality deteriorating process are not performed.

摘要: A music generation system includes a segment manager and a plurality of segment objects. Each segment object has one or more track objects. Each track object containing a time sequence of musical performance data. Some of the track objects are dependent track objects and some of the track objects are controlling track objects. The dependent track objects contain dependent musical performance data that is interpreted based on controlling musical performance data contained in one or more of the controlling track objects. Each of the controlling track objects contains a predefined type of controlling musical performance data, wherein a plurality of different control type identifiers correspond respectively to different predefined types of controlling musical performance data. When a dependent track object needs controlling musical performance data, the track object calls the segment manager with an argument comprising a control type identifier. The segment manager responds by calling one or more segment objects with arguments that include the received control type identifier. In response a called segment object identifies one of its track objects that contains the requested type of controlling musical performance data and returns the musical performance data from the identified track object to the segment manager.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of extracting a representation of its rhythmic structure, from a given signal. The representation is designed to yield a similarity relation between item titles. There is thus provided a method of extracting the numeric representation of a rhythmic structure for a given item of audio signal, from a database including percussive sounds in an audio signal, comprising the steps of: a) defining said rhythmic structure as a superposition of time series, each of said time series representing a temporal contribution for one of said percussive sounds in an audio signal; b) processing said input signal through a spectral analysis technique, so as to select said rhythmic information contained in said input signal; c) constructing said numeric representation of a rhythmic structure of said input signal by combining a plurality of initial time series; and d) reducing said rhythmic information contained in said plurality of time series by analyzing correlations products thereof, thereby extracting a reduced rhythmic information for an item of audio signal. The method may be combined with the step of e) effecting a distance measure between the items of audio signal on the basis of said reduced rhythmic information, whereby an item of audio signal having similar rhythm is selected.

摘要: An electronic synchronizer stores MIDI music data codes in a principal melody track and other MIDI music data codes in an external control track, and compares music data codes representative of depressed keys with the MIDI music data codes in the principal melody track to see whether or not the keys are timely depressed for producing the principal melody for reading out the other MIDI music data codes in the external control track in synchronism with the fingering, wherein the MIDI music data codes in the external control track are converted to instructions for an audio-visual system so that the electronic synchronizer achieves the synchronization between the fingering and the audio-visual system on the basis of the MIDI music data codes.

摘要: Described are a system and method for achieving near real-time musical collaboration by a group of users using computers connected by a network. Each computer system plays a stream of musical data to each user. The musical data stream played to each user corresponds to the musical collaboration produced by the users. The playing of the musical data streams is staggered such that each user is located at a different time in the musical collaboration than every other user. This staggering separates any two users by a temporal offset that exceeds the maximum time required to transmit musical data from one user to another user over the network. Each user is allowed to modify the portion of the musical data stream that is currently being played to that user. Such musical data modifications are transmitted to other users over the network to become incorporated into the musical data streams played to those other users. Because the musical data streams are staggered by a temporal offset that exceeds the maximum latency of the network, those other users to receive the musical data modifications with sufficient time to incorporate them into the locally played musical data streams.

摘要: A method and system are provided that allows a user to interactively compose music and create a video of an animated character that dances to the rhythm and beat of the composed music. To compose music, the user interactively selects and arranges a plurality of music samples for a plurality of instruments. Music samples are independent pieces of music that can be seamlessly looped to compose the musical work. A harmonizer program allows the user to hammonize the music samples that play simultaneously, thereby allowing the user to compose a music piece without knowledge or experience in musical theory or training. The user creates a video of an animated character that dances to the rhythm and beat of the music using an animation program. The animation program provides the user with a plurality of video clips from which the user can select and arrange to create the video. Once completed, the user can play, edit, and save the composed music and the video.

摘要: Method for fast (real-time) storage and retrieval of digital code sequences, each representing one or more predetermined features of a musical note, a fraction of a musical note, or group of musical notes and a system that implements this method, with the aim to automatically control electronic musical devices and thereby to avoid or alleviate certain problems associated with the prior art. Storage and retrieval will increase rapidity and efficiency even more by pre-selecting on the basis of related data or by using statistical information.
