    摘要: A relay for high frequency instruments and a reverse power protection circuit for high frequency instruments are described herein. The relay is inexpensive to construct, permits good impedance matching up to approximately 5 GHz, and can be easily mounted on a coplanar waveguide transmission line. The circuit can open the relay in response to a reverse power condition in as little as 8 microseconds and provides both good grounding and functions reliably up to 4 GHz.

    摘要: An integration of a micromachined actuator and a signal transmission structure includes a thermal actuator on a side of a displaceable signal line opposite to a fixed signal line. The actuator includes first and second legs. The first leg has a cross-sectional area greater than the second leg, providing a differential in electrical resistance. As current is channeled through the legs, the second leg will elongate more and will deflect both of the legs. The deflection is in a direction to press the displaceable signal line into signal communication with the fixed signal line. Optionally, a thermally operated reset actuator can be positioned to provide a mechanical return of the displaceable signal line. In a preferred embodiment, a microwave transmission environment is provided.

    摘要: A microwave multi-port switch has three operating positions and three RF paths. Six peripheral contact junctions are provided adjacent corners of a hexagonal cavity in an RF body and a common contact provided at the cavity center. Six reeds bridge over in and out of contact with adjacent ones of the peripheral contacts and six reeds extend between and in and out of contact with the peripheral contacts and the common contact. Reeds are actuated by movement of a coil-driven rocker through three actuating mechanisms, including a center post, at three levels above the body. The mechanisms include radially extending leaf springs, an actuator loosely keyed to the center post and a pivoted leaf spring movable by rocker tilting depressing the actuator, the leaf springs and fixed dielectric posts extending upwardly from the reeds.

    摘要: By means of connectors with pins which shieldedly extend into a cavity defined by a metal housing into which the connectors are fixedly inserted, the inner line of a first coaxial cable is exposed for connection with the inner line of one or the other of the two other coaxial cables. Such alternative connection is accomplished by a pair of magnetizable conductive reeds, each being disposed to bridge, and thereby make contact between, the pin of the first coaxial cable and the pin connected with the inner line of one of the two other cables. Each reed is displaceable in a transverse direction and, upon such displacement, breaks its connections and is grounded against the metal wall of the housing. Such displacement may be effected by the energization of solenoid coils disposed perpendicularly to a first reed, thereby creating a magnetic field to draw that reed toward the coils and against the housing wall. Each reed is attached to one side of a rocker assembly which is spring-biased against the first reed to dispose it in its connecting position when its solenoid coils are not energized. Such disposition of the first reed, through its attachment to the rocker assembly, secures the other reed in its disconnecting and grounded position, but the reed positions are reversed when the solenoid coils are energized. A control switch is provided to enable an operator selectively to cause energization of the coils or to deenergize them. An indicator circuit may be provided to indicate which reed is in its bridging and hence, connecting position.

    摘要: An electrical switchgear for fast limitation and interruption of fault currents includes a fixed electrode, a movable electrode having a contact portion and a repelling portion, a plurality of contact fingers, and a coil. The coil is arranged adjacent to the repelling portion to induce eddy currents therein, the coil and the fixed electrode being arranged on the same side of the movable electrode, and the repelling portion being movable relative to the coil. The coil has a first dimension between two of its opposite lateral ends and defines an area which corresponds to a majority of a surface area of the repelling portion. The repelling portion provides a continuous current path, having a dimension corresponding to the first dimension, for eddy currents induced by the coil, whereby the movable electrode is pivotally thrown in a direction away from the coil and the fixed electrode, thus providing a circuit trip.
