摘要: Medical devices and methods for making and using medical devices are disclosed. An example medical device may include a guide extension catheter. The guide extension catheter may include a proximal member having a proximal end, a distal end, and a proximal diameter. The guide extension catheter may additionally include a collar member attached to the distal end of the proximal member, the collar member comprising a base portion and one or more ribs connected to the base portion and extending distally away from the base portion. In still some additional embodiments, the guide extension catheter may further include a distal sheath member attached to the collar member, the distal sheath member having a distal diameter larger than the proximal diameter.

摘要: A method and device for modulating the autonomic nervous system adjacent a pericardial space to treat cardiac arrhythmia includes a treatment source arranged to supply a treatment medium, a catheter having an end sized for insertion into the pericardial space, a medium delivery assembly having a distal end arranged to be positioned by the catheter into the pericardium, with the distal end of the delivery assembly comprising a delivery tip arranged to extend away from the distal end of the catheter into the pericardial space. A connector operatively couples the delivery tip of the medium delivery assembly to the treatment source, and the delivery tip of the medium delivery assembly including a plurality of delivery points for delivering the treatment medium at a plurality of treatment areas within the pericardial space. The device performs modulation or ablation of the autonomic nervous system at selected treatment areas within the pericardium.

摘要: An anchor is shaped to define a helix. A deployment tool is reversibly coupled to the anchor, and includes a lance. The deployment tool is configured to transluminally advance the anchor to the heart, and to stabilize the anchor at the tissue by driving the lance into the tissue. The deployment tool is also configured to anchor the anchor to the tissue, for example, by driving the tissue-penetrating helix into the tissue while the anchor remains stabilized at the tissue by the lance in the tissue, and to subsequently retract the lance from the tissue while leaving the anchor anchored to the tissue. Other embodiments are also described.

摘要: A user-controllable urinary catheter prosthesis (20) is provided for minimally-invasive insertion into a subject. The prosthesis (20) includes a proximal intra-urethral assembly (22), configured to be inserted entirely within a urethra (102) via a meatus (104). A user-activatable hydraulic activator (50) is disposed along a flexible intra-urethral catheter (30, 430), which is shaped so as to define a urinary outlet (40, 440) at a proximal end (41, 441) thereof. A distal bladder assembly (32, 132, 232, 332) is configured to be disposed in a bladder of the subject, and includes a bladder anchor (48). A hydraulic valve (60, 160, 260, 360) is configured to assume an open state, in which urine flow is allowed between the distal bladder assembly (32, 132, 232, 332) and the urinary outlet (40, 440); and a closed resting state, in which urine is entirely blocked from entering the distal bladder assembly (32, 132, 232, 332) and exiting the urinary outlet (40, 440). Application of pressure to the hydraulic activator (50) transitions the hydraulic valve (60, 160, 260, 360) from the closed resting state to the open state. Other embodiments are also described.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a catheter pump that includes an expandable cannula and an impeller system. The expandable cannula defines a blood flow channel and includes an impeller blade zone, an inlet zone, and an outlet zone. The catheter pump further includes an impeller system including an impeller body, the impeller system movable relative to the expandable cannula along a longitudinal axis of the catheter pump. The catheter pump is selectively transitionable between a separated configuration in which the impeller body is axially spaced from the expandable cannula along the longitudinal axis, and an operational configuration in which the impeller body is positioned within the impeller blade zone of the expandable cannula.

An application accessible on a mobile device may be used to take calibrated photographs of an intravenous catheter site. 摘要: This disclosure includes intraluminal tubes comprising: an elongated tube (e.g., having a proximal portion, a distal portion configured to be disposed inside of an internal cavity of a patient, and a sidewall defining a lumen extending from the proximal portion to the distal portion, the distal portion defining one or more openings in fluid communication with the lumen) and a plurality of deployable tines, each coupled to the tube and disposed outside the sidewall of the distal portion, where each tine is movable from a collapsed state to a deployed state in which a portion of the tine extends laterally away from the distal portion of the tube. In some of the present intraluminal tubes, the sidewall of the distal portion defines a plurality of longitudinal grooves, and each tine is disposed in a different one of the grooves when the tines are in the collapsed state.
