    摘要: A railcar hatch control system and method for operating railcar hatches of a multi-railcar train is disclosed. A multi-railcar train may have a locomotive and a plurality of railcars having railcar hatches that can be opened and closed. The system and method may include displaying railcar identification information for the railcars on an operator display device, and receiving selections of railcars from an operator that will have a railcar hatch operation performed thereon, such as opening or closing the hatches. The railcar hatch operation is input, and the system and method control the railcar hatch operation being performed only on the selected railcars, and not on the railcars that have not been selected by the operator. The system and method may have operator interfaces devices at an operator station of the train, or at a remote location or on a remote device that communicates wirelessly with the train.

    摘要: Methods and systems are provided for a railroad hopper car bottom discharge door having two door plates, where at least one is rotatable between open and closed positions for the bottom discharge door. A seal member is fixedly connected to a distal end of each door plate, respectively, and each seal member has a seal lip protruding from the corresponding door plate. One seal lip comprises a first obtuse angle on a lower surface of the seal lip, while the other seal lip comprises a second angle smaller than the first obtuse angle on an upper surface of the seal lip. When the bottom discharge door is closed, the two angles on the two seal lips interlock to form a seal. Methods and systems for a door-actuating assembly that utilizes a pick-up shoe and a rechargeable battery to minimize the occurrence of rail sparks inside dump sites are also provided.

    摘要: A bottom door opening-closing mechanism includes a first connecting rod, a second connecting rod, a swing rod, a bottom door opening-closing drive cylinder and a transmission shaft. The swing rod is hinged to the second connecting rod and the piston rod of the bottom door opening-closing drive cylinder. One end of the first connecting rod is hinged to the second connecting rod, and the transmission shaft is connected to the second connecting rod. The cylinder body of the bottom door opening-closing drive cylinder is fixedly connected with a first locking hook, and the swing rod is fixedly connected with a second locking hook which can be caught by the first locking hook. A bottom door device and a drop-bottom hopper car are further provided. In the present invention, the first locking hook and the second locking hook are caught with each other to achieve a secondary locking. Such an arrangement has some advantages such as a simple structure and low manufacture and maintenance costs. Further, a secondary locking may be achieved while closing the bottom door only by controlling the bottom door opening-closing drive cylinder, so that the complexity of the control system is reduced.

    摘要: Hopper cars both open and covered and discharge control systems are disclosed. Each hopper car may include at least one hopper and a center sill which defines in part a longitudinal axis of the hopper car. At least one discharge opening may be formed proximate a lower portion of each hopper. A respective door assembly may be pivotally mounted adjacent to each discharge opening to control the flow of lading from the respective discharge opening. Each discharge control system may include a common linkage and associated secondary linkages operable to move associated door assemblies between a first position and a second position. A power source including a motor, an air cylinder or a hydraulic cylinder may be disposed on the railway car to move the common linkage. For other hopper cars a wayside drive system may be releasably engaged with a capstan operable coupled to the common linkage.

The gate has coupled side walls and end walls which present a top opening, bottom opening, and upper surface surrounding the top opening and adapted to be joined to the hopper car. A curved rail extends between and is coupled with the end walls adjacent the bottom opening. A curved door is supported on the rail. The door is moveable between a closed position which blocks the bottom opening and an open position which allows the cargo to exit through the bottom opening.

    摘要: A discharge gate assembly for a railway hopper car that satisfies the new AAR requirements and specifications and includes a frame defining a generally rectangular discharge opening with a gate slidably mounted on the frame for endwise horizontal movement between opened and closed positions. An operating shaft assembly is supported on opposite frame extensions for rotational movement about a fixed axis. The operating shaft assembly is operably coupled to the gate. A lock assembly is operably coupled to the operating shaft assembly and includes a vertically displacable stop member mounted for vertical and rotational movement about a fixed axis extending above the path of movement of the gate and in fore-and-aft relationship relative to an edge of the gate. When the gate is in its closed position, the stop member extends downwardly and into engagement with the gate edge to positively prevent the gate from substantial movement toward an open position. A drive mechanism is disposed adjacent the frame extensions for positively displacing the stop member from the path of travel of the gate in timed relation relative to movement of the gate toward an open position.

    摘要: A ballast hopper car door control apparatus and method for controlling a pivoting hopper discharge control member on a railroad ballast car or the like, includes a drive shaft extending through the discharge control member at the pivot point. A transmission is connected to the drive shaft and is driven by a reversible electric motor. The motor is controlled via a radio receiver which receives motor control signals from a remote radio transmitter. When there are a plurality of ballast cars on a train, each car has a receiver which responds to a different address sequence. The remote transmitter is operable to selectively send any of the different address sequences so that a single selected car can be remotely controlled. Multiple hoppers on a single car are controllable by a single receiver.

    摘要: A railway car hopper having downwardly and inwardly inclined side walls and end walls defining a rectangular hopper discharge opening is provided with a downwardly extending discharge chute. A gate for opening and closing the hopper discharge opening is supported for reciprocable movement by the discharge chute. The discharge chute has a pair of integral cold formed steel members defining the side walls and integral cold formed steel members defining the end walls. The discharge chute side walls each have an upper inwardly and downwardly directed flange. The top surfaces of the flanges each engage an outside surface of one of the downwardly and inwardly inclined side walls of the hopper. The bottom surfaces of the flanges each define a gate receiving and supporting elongated groove with a remaining portion of its respective integral cold formed member. The grooves each include a downwardly and inwardly directed surface for slidingly and sealingly supporting upwardly and outwardly turned edges of the gate. One of the discharge chute end walls also has an upper inwardly and downwardly directed flange with a top surface engaging an outside surface of one of the downwardly and inwardly inclined end walls of the hopper. The other integral cold formed end wall of the discharge chute has an upper gate supporting flange member.
