Abstract: A fuel cell system is provided with a fuel cell stack assembly which includes a plurality of fuel cells which convert chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction with an oxidizing agent, the plurality of fuel cells being stacked together in electrical series; a base member upon which the plurality of fuel cells are stacked such that the base member is in electrical communication with the plurality of fuel cells; an attachment member fixed to the base member, the attachment member being maintained at electrical ground; and a dielectric barrier which electrically isolates the base member from the attachment member.

Abstract: A lane-keeping system suitable for use on an automated vehicle includes a camera, an inertial-measurement-unit, and a controller. The camera is configured to detect a lane-marking of a roadway traveled by a vehicle. The inertial-measurement-unit is configured to determine relative-motion of the vehicle. The controller in communication with the camera and the inertial-measurement-unit. When the lane-marking is detected the controller is configured to steer the vehicle towards a centerline of the roadway based on a last-position, and determine an offset-vector indicative of motion of the vehicle relative to the centerline of the roadway. When the lane-marking is not detected the controller is configured to: determine an offset-position relative to the last-position based on information from the inertial-measurement-unit, determine a correction-vector used to steer the vehicle from the offset-position towards the centerline of the roadway based on the last-position and the offset-vector, and steer the vehicle according to the correction-vector.

Abstract: A camshaft phaser includes a stator having a plurality of lobes and a rotor coaxially disposed within the stator and having a plurality of vanes interspersed with the lobes defining a plurality of alternating advance chambers and retard chambers such that a phasing valve supplies and vents oil to and from the advance and retard chambers. A first check valve allows oil to flow from only one of the retard chambers to only one of the advance chambers when a first diverter valve permits communication between the one of the advance chambers and the first check valve and a second check valve allows oil to flow from the one of the advance chambers to the one of the retard chambers when a second diverter valve permits communication between the one of the retard chambers and the second check valve.

Abstract: An illustrative example embodiment of a method is for controlling a switch. The switch is used to charge a capacitor that provides an output voltage. The switch has an inductor on an input side between a power source and the switch. The method includes: initiating a switching cycle including turning on the switch, sensing a voltage representing current through the inductor, using a reference voltage as a basis for turning off the switch during the switching cycle when the sensed voltage exceeds the reference voltage, and setting an initial value of the reference voltage at a beginning of the switching cycle based on at least one feature of an activation of the switch during at least one previous switching cycle.

Abstract: An electrical connector system including a connector having a terminal cavity within. The cavity has a rigid floor with a lock nib extending into the cavity, a first flexible beam extending into a rearward portion of the cavity and a second flexible beam extending into a forward portion. The first and second beams both overlie the floor. The system further includes a terminal having a top surface and a bottom surface defining a rigid lock edge. The terminal is received in the cavity such that the first beam engages a rearward portion of the top surface of the terminal and the second beam engages a forward portion of the top surface, thereby biasing the terminal towards the floor. The lock edge engages the lock nib, thereby preventing the terminal from being inadvertently withdrawn from the terminal receiving cavity. The connector may be formed by an additive manufacturing process.
