Abstract: Provided herein is a system and method for coupling a wearable therapy system to a dressing and detaching the wearable therapy system from the dressing. One aspect provides a system including a drape with a switchable adhesive layer and a therapy system adhered to the drape via the switchable adhesive layer. The therapy system includes one or more radiation sources that can emit radiation wavelengths (e.g., light or electromagnetic waves) to impinge upon the adhesive and deactivate the adhesive when it is desired to remove the therapy system from the drape.

Abstract: A medical drape for use with a reduced pressure system for providing reduced pressure to a tissue site is described. In some embodiments, the drape may include a flexible film, and an adhesive layer coupled to the flexible film. The adhesive layer may include a first adhesive disposed on a first portion of the flexible film in a first pattern. The first adhesive can be configured to secure the flexible film proximate to the tissue site. The adhesive layer generally includes a second adhesive disposed on a second portion of the flexible film in a second pattern. The second adhesive can be configured to seal the flexible film proximate to the tissue site. The first pattern and the second pattern are preferably registered so that the first portion and the second portion are offset to cover substantially different portions of the flexible film.

Abstract: An apparatus for treating a tissue site includes a dressing, an oxygen source, a valve, and a negative-pressure source. The dressing is configured to be sealed around the tissue site. The oxygen source is fluidly coupled to the dressing and configured to provide a low flow of oxygen. A first port of the valve is fluidly coupled to the dressing and the valve moves between a closed position preventing flow through the valve and an open position permitting flow through the valve. The negative-pressure source is fluidly coupled to a second port of the valve and provides negative pressure to the second port of the valve at a non-therapeutic level. The valve separates the negative-pressure source from the dressing and selectively opens when a positive pressure is applied on an upstream side of the valve.

Abstract: A reduced-pressure treatment system for debriding a treatment area of a tissue site and applying reduced pressure is disclosed. The reduced-pressure treatment system includes a hydrogel having a blocked acid debriding agent. The hydrogel is adapted to cover the treatment area and enhance autolytic debridement at the treatment area. The reduced-pressure treatment system includes a manifold that is adapted to cover the hydrogel and distribute reduced pressure to the tissue site. The reduce-pressure treatment system also includes a sealing drape for forming a fluid seal over the tissue site and manifold. Other systems, methods, and dressings are presented.

Abstract: A dressing for treating a tissue site, particularly a peritoneal or abdominal site, is disclosed. The dressing may comprise: first and second layers, each being made from a liquid-impermeable material and being at least partially fenestrated, the layers being coupled together to define a chamber therebetween; and disposed within the chamber a third layer comprising a manifold having a central region, and a perimeter region containing perforations arranged in a pattern defining a plurality of sub-regions. The first and second layers can be coupled using a plurality of welds or bonds through the perimeter region perforations. Optionally, the manifold does not comprise, and the chamber does not contain, any manifolding elements extending outward from an outer edge of the perimeter region.

Abstract: A dressing or wound filler comprising a laminate structure of film materials. In one example embodiment, a dressing may include a first layer comprising a first film, a second layer adjacent to the first layer and comprising a second film, and a third layer comprising a material having closed cells. The first layer may further include a plurality of fluid restrictions. The second layer may include blisters and apertures to allow fluid transfer through the second film. The third layer may include closed cells and apertures between the closed cells to allow fluid transfer through the third layer. The dressing may further include a fourth layer adjacent to the third layer opposite the second layer, which may include a fourth film having blisters and apertures. The dressing may also include a fifth layer, which may be adjacent to the fourth layer opposite the third layer. The fifth layer may include a film and a second plurality of fluid restrictions.

Abstract: A dressing for treating tissue with negative pressure may be a composite of dressing layers, including a release film, perforated gel layer, a perforated polymer film, a manifold, and an adhesive cover. A method of manufacturing the dressing may comprise providing a first layer, such as the gel layer, on a substrate, perforating the first layer on the substrate to create a plurality of apertures in the first layer, and creating an index of the plurality of apertures in the first layer. A laser can be calibrated based on the index. A second layer, such as the polymer film, may be coupled to the first layer, and a plurality of slots can be cut in the second layer with the laser. Each of the slots can be cut through one of the apertures in the first layer based on the index.
