Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. PAPR may be relevant to managing transmitter power, receiver sensitivity, or both, and transmissions of a particular device may consider various PAPR reduction strategies to manage transmission power at the device. However, relay devices may be configured to forward communications from multiple transmitting devices, and PAPR may not be considered for aggregate signaling via such a relay device. In some examples of the described PAPR management techniques, assisting transmitters may be configured to transmit PAPR reduction signaling that may be received by a relay device, such that an aggregated signal that is received and forwarded by the relay device may have lower PAPR. Additionally, or alternatively, in some examples of the described PAPR management techniques, a relay device itself may inject PAPR reduction signaling into a received signal to reduce PAPR of a transmission by the relay device.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to mechanisms for priority based decisions regarding when to cancel or maintain configured transmissions that overlap with dynamically scheduled transmissions. An example method performed by a user equipment (UE) generally includes determining that a configured transmission overlaps in time with a dynamically scheduled transmission, and deciding whether to cancel or maintain the configured transmission based on a priority of at least one of the configured transmission or an uplink transmission associated with the dynamically scheduled transmission when the time between an end of a downlink control information (DCI) that scheduled the dynamically scheduled transmission and a start of the configured transmission is greater than a threshold processing time.

Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to provide a CSI report including an expiration time to a base station to reduce the risk of improper scheduling decisions at the base station based on outdated CSI reports. The UE obtains a channel measurement signal from the base station. The UE identifies CSI based on the channel measurement signal and provides a CSI report to the base station including the CSI. The CSI report further includes an expiration time for the CSI report. The base station obtains the CSI report from the UE including the expiration time for the CSI report, and the base station processes downlink data for transmission based on the expiration time in the CSI report.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may receive, from a second UE, a capability message indicating that the second UE is capable of processing one or more types of modulated waveforms. The first UE may encode a set of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols with a first set of data for an uplink transmission to a network entity via a communication link between the first UE and the network entity, and may modulate the set of encoded OFDM symbols with a second set of data for the second UE according to a type of the one or more types of modulated waveforms capable of being processed by the second UE. The first UE may transmit and the second UE may monitor for the modulated set of encoded OFDM symbols via the communication link.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a base station may use a downlink control information (DCI) message to indicate timing resources to a user equipment (UE) for multiple downlink data repetitions in a slot. In a first implementation, the base station may indicate an explicit time domain resource allocation (TDRA) for one repetition in the TDRA field of the DCI, and the UE may determine implicit TDRAs for the other repetitions based on the explicit TDRA. In a second implementation, the base station may indicate a total TDRA for the full set of repetitions in the TDRA field, and the UE may divide the total TDRA into individual TDRAs for the repetitions. The UE may receive the downlink data repetitions based on determining the TDRAs and may transmit a feedback message in response based on a hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgment (HARQ-ACK) codebook.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for configuring group indices for uplink transmissions from a user equipment (UE) such that the UE may be able to determine whether to combine uplink transmissions scheduled on overlapping time resources. Specifically, the UE may combine uplink transmissions associated with a same group index for transmission in a single channel, and the UE may avoid combining uplink transmissions associated with different group indices. In some cases, the indication of a group index associated with an uplink transmission from a UE may be explicit (e.g., provided in a downlink control information (DCI) message), and, in other cases, the indication of a group index associated with an uplink transmission from a UE may be implicit (e.g., corresponding to a resource allocated for the uplink transmission).

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications and, more particularly, to methods and apparatus for adjusting a number of encoded bits, M, in block puncturing and/or shortening calculations to improve encoding performance. An exemplary method that may be performed by a wireless device generally includes iteratively determining a parameter, Madj, for construction of a polar code of size N for use in encoding K information bits, based on: at least two parameters, α and β, related to how many iterations to use in determining Madj, and a number of encoded bits, M; performing information adjustment allocation of the K information bits to an upper part and a lower part of the polar code based on Madj; and transmitting the upper part and the lower part of the polar code via a wireless medium.
