Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe techniques for training a convolutional neural network using an inconsistent stochastic gradient descent (ISGD) algorithm. Training effort for training batches used by the ISGD algorithm are dynamically adjusted according to a determined loss for a given training batch which are classified into two sub states—well-trained or under-trained. The ISGD algorithm provides more iterations for under-trained batches while reducing iterations for well-trained ones.

Abstract: Systems and methods for swapping out and in pinned memory regions between main memory and a separate storage location in a system, including establishing an offload buffer in an interposing library; swapping out pinned memory regions by transferring offload buffer data from a coprocessor memory to a host processor memory, unregistering and unmapping a memory region employed by the offload buffer from the interposing library, wherein the interposing library is pre-loaded on the coprocessor, and collects and stores information employed during the swapping out. The pinned memory regions are swapped in by mapping and re-registering the files to the memory region employed by the offload buffer, and transferring data of the offload buffer data from the host memory back to the re-registered memory region.

Abstract: Data is routed in a mesh network of devices that can communicate wirelessly through a plurality of technologies. One or more of such devices receive broadcast message(s) from a destination device intended to receive the data, and generate a first radio link quality metric (RLQM) value based on the broadcast message(s). A source device originates and delivers a quantum of data with an embedded first RLQM value. A set of intermediate devices relays the quantum of data if a forwarding criterion is fulfilled; the forwarding criterion is based in part on the first RLQM value and a second RLQM value generated by an intermediate device in the set of intermediate devices based on the broadcast message(s). The intermediate device exploits an optical interface to transmit the quantum of data. The destination device broadcasts an acknowledgement signal in response to receiving intended data.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods and a system are provided for distributing tasks between a plurality of processes in a computer network. A method includes distributing, by a load balancer in the computer network, tasks between the plurality of processes. The method further includes maintaining, by the load balancer, a registry for each of the tasks. For a given task, the registry indicates which of the plurality of processes to which the given task is distributed based on a hash function. The method also includes forming, by the load balancer, a respective set of registries for each of the plurality of processes, based on a set of thresholds. Abstract: Methods are provided. A method for swapping-out an offload process from a coprocessor includes issuing a snapify_pause request from a host processor to the coprocessor to initiate a pausing of the offload process executing by the coprocessor and another process executing by the host processor using a plurality of locks. The offload process is previously offloaded from the host processor to the coprocessor. The method further includes issuing a snapify_capture request from the host processor to the coprocessor to initiate a local snapshot capture and saving of the local snapshot capture by the coprocessor. The method also includes issuing a snapify_wait request from the host processor to the coprocessor to wait for the local snapshot capture and the saving of the local snapshot capture to complete by the coprocessor.
