    Abstract: A system and terminal for facilitating a “virtual presence” allows users on a communication network to simply begin speaking through other users.     Abstract: Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an electronic device including a liquid crystal, the electronic device including: a piece of glass; a display disposed under a first region of the piece of glass; a power supplying module; one or more electrode films; and one or more liquid crystal layers disposed between the one or more electrode films. The electronic device may also include: a light reflection member (e.g., cholesteric liquid crystal) disposed under a second region of the piece of glass; a processor operatively connected to the display, the power supplying module, and the light reflection member; and a memory operatively connected to the processor. The processor can check the content to be displayed through the display, and can use the power supplying module to supply power to the light reflection member on the basis of at least the checked content, so that the one or more liquid crystal layers reflects at least a portion of light incident from the outside of the electronic device. In addition, other embodiments are possible.

    Abstract: There are provided a method, a system configured to perform the method, and a computer program product comprising instructions which when executed by processing circuitry of the system cause the system to perform the method. The method comprises determining, by at least one computer processor communicatively coupled to and configured to operate in a contact center system, a plurality of available contacts, wherein each of the plurality of available contacts is available for pairing to an agent of a plurality of agents using either a first pairing strategy or a second pairing strategy, wherein the first pairing strategy is different from the second pairing strategy. The method further comprises determining, by the at least one computer processor, that a first agent of the plurality of agents is available for pairing, and after determining that the first agent is available for pairing, selecting, by the at least one computer processor, the first pairing strategy or the second pairing strategy for pairing the first agent to one of the first plurality of contacts based on a time the first agent became available for pairing. The method further comprises selecting, by the at least one computer processor, a first contact of the plurality of contacts using the selected pairing strategy, wherein the first contact was not assigned to either the first pairing strategy or the second pairing strategy prior to the first agent becoming available, and pairing, in a switch of the contact center system, the first contact to the first agent.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices enable recovery of words spoken while a communication device is on mute during a voice call. A processor of the communication device or a network server may buffer audio segment in memory when the mute function is turned on. If the mute function is turned off soon after the input audio segment begins, or the processor recognizes from the spoken words that the speaker does not intend to be on mute, the processor may transmit to the third party participant a playback of at least one portion of the buffer in conjunction with turning off the mute function. Playback of the buffered audio segment may be sped up so that the playback catches up to current speech of the speaker. Buffering and playback of an input audio segment may be accomplished at the speaker's communication device or in a server within the communication network.

    Abstract: A method for telephony includes receiving at an Internet telephony service provider a subscriber request to place a call to a telephone number. A cache associated with the internet telephony service provider is queried to check if the cache holds a record for the telephone number. If the cache holds the record, the record is obtained. If the cache does not hold the record, a request is sent to a database server that maintains a database of records associating endpoint user terminal telephone numbers of subscribers with respective packet network addresses of the endpoint user terminal. The call is placed to the endpoint user terminal telephone number via a public switched telephone network while the request is sent to the database server to retrieve the packet network address of the endpoint user terminal to which calls to the telephone number should be placed.
