The techniques include registering one or more images captured by one or more cameras, wherein registering the one or more images comprises region-based registration of the one or more images in two or more adjacent frames, performing motion segmentation of the one or more images to detect one or more moving objects and one or more background regions in the one or more images, and tracking the one or more moving objects to facilitate visual surveillance of the one or more moving objects.
Abstract:
A method of a mobile station receiving data packets from a serving base station via a multicast or broadcast connection in a wireless network is provided for performing a handover from the serving base station to a target base station. The method comprises, at the level of the mobile station, the steps of: upon the detection of the quantity of buffered data packets in the mobile station being lower than a first threshold value, establishing a unicast connection with the serving base station to receive data packets from the serving base station; and upon detection of the level of buffered data packets reaching the predetermined threshold level, performing a handover from the serving base station to the target base station. According to the invention, a seamless handover of a mobile station in a wireless network providing Multicast and Broadcast Service (MBS service) can be achieved to prevent the MBS service interruption during the handover.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a dynamic detector to detect an environmental condition including a power-supply level relative to a predetermined threshold signal during a training phase; and an adjustable buffer, coupled with the dynamic detector, configured to adjust output drive strength during the training phase in response to the detected environmental condition.
Abstract:
A heat sink includes a plurality of metal fins interconnected together. Each metal fin includes a main plate, a flange extending forwardly from the main plate and an interlocking unit formed on the flange. The interlocking unit includes an engaging ear and a hook. The ear extends rearwards from a rear edge of the flange and defines a locking hole therein. The flange defines a cutout adjacent to a front edge thereof. The cutout is aligned with the ear and recessed rearwards from the front edge of the flange. The hook extends forwardly from the flange and is located within the cutout. The ear of a fin is engaged in the cutout of an adjacent rear fin. The hook of the adjacent rear fin is engaged in the locking hole of the engaging ear of the fin.
Abstract:
Novel heterocyclic aromatic compounds are provided that are useful in stimulating endogenous production or release of growth hormone, said compounds having the general structure of formula I wherein R1, R1′, R2, R3, R4, Xa, Y, Z and n are as described herein. The compounds provided herein are useful in treating obesity, osteoporosis (improving bone density) and in improving muscle mass and muscle strength.
Abstract:
The present principles provide a method and apparatus for performing time window based adaptive advertisement insertion into video on demand (VOD) programs. The method inserts advertisements dynamically according to the actual content viewing time, as opposed to the fixed advertisement insertion points in traditional ad insertion. The method minimizes the negative impact caused by inserted ads to viewers in interactive session, in which trick modes, such as fast forward and rewind are frequently used.
Abstract:
A software trusted platform module (sTPM) operates in a hypervisor, receives trust assurances from specialized hardware, and extends this trust such that the hypervisor performs trust attestation. The hypervisor receives a startup sequence validation from a TPM, or Trusted Platform Module. The TPM performs bus monitoring during a boot sequence of the computer system, records the startup sequence from the bus, and performs a hash on the sequence. The TPM performs an authentication exchange with the hypervisor such that the hypervisor authenticates the attestation of the computer system from the TPM, and the hypervisor, now delegated with trust assurances from the TPM, provides assurances to users via an authentication chain. The ATCB then performs the attestation of the computer system according to the attestation protocol much faster than the TPM. In this manner, the hypervisor operates as a software delegate of the TPM for providing user assurances of trust.
Abstract:
Process for the production of transgenic plants that have high content and yield of starch and biomass. The starch synthases (SSs) in plants (including SSIV) and glycogen synthase (GlgA) in bacteria catalyse the transfer of the glucosidic part of the ADP-Glucose molecule (the activated donor of glucose) to a pre-existing α(1, 4)-glucan. However, in contrast to the other SSs, SSIV is able to add glucose units to maltotriose. Also, in contrast to other soluble SSs, SSIV is bound to the starch granule. This invention describes for the first time how to obtain plants that have high levels and yields of starch and biomass as a consequence of the expression of genes coding for SSIV.
Abstract:
A method and system are described including retrieving a sparseness indication, retrieving an indication of a number of failed transmissions, comparing the sparseness indication to an optimal sparseness, comparing the number of failed transmissions to a first threshold, adjusting a size of a set of triggering events responsive to both the first and the second comparison, comparing a data buffer push rate to a data buffer arrival rate, further adjusting the size of the triggering set responsive to the third comparison, determining system fairness, comparing the size of the triggering set to a second threshold and further adjusting the size of the triggering set responsive to one of the determination and a combination of the determination and the fourth comparison.
