Abstract:
A flat link band of wire coils, a wire coil for the production of such a link band, and the process for the production of such a wire coil, where the wire coils are fabricated from an elastic material such as plastic. Each turn of the wire coil includes a head part and a foot part, which are substantially identical to each other, being formed in each case as a reverse loop. On one side of the wire coil, each head and foot part extends over with a first shank section in a substantially straight line into a corresponding first shank section of a connecting turn. On the opposite side of the wire coil, each head and foot part extends over with a substantially straight second shank section. The second shank sections are connected together by a central winding section running substantially in the same direction as the coil axis. The winding sections substantially determine the pitch of the wire coil. Adjacent wire coils are adapted to be detachably held together with an insert wire thrust into the interengaging head and foot parts of the wire coils.
Abstract:
A link conveyor is proposed which includes a first set of helical coils or spirals connected together in interdigitated parallel disposition to define a base structure providing adequate strength and dimensional stability in the conveyor and a second set of interdigitated helical coils or spirals connected together and to the base structure and forming a supplementary structure for protecting the said base structure against damage or undue wear. The base and supplementary structures may be arranged to form a single layer conveyor or may comprise two separate plies connected together by support coils to define a Duplex structure. The conveyor is of particular application to papermachine clothing suitable for dryer fabrics, forming fabrics and base structures for press felts.
Abstract:
An endless belt apparatus (10) which can be used in either a timing, driving, and/or load carrying system, has a generally cylindrical drive pulley (12) in the outer surface (22) of which is provided recesses for engaging with an associated belt (26) including a planar web (28) provided with projections (34, 34') arranged in a symmetrical matrix for positively engaging with the recesses of the pulley for tracking and/or advancing the belt. Similar recesses provided in the other pulleys of the system will permit the belt to rotate such pulleys as a function of the rotation of the drive pulley. Circumferential grooves either recessed (24) or formed by annular rings (82) can be provided on the pulley for tracking purposes and axial channels (64) or sprocket teeth (90) for drive purposes, although it is contemplated that a symmetrical matrix of recesses (74) be provided on the pulley for matingly receiving the matrix of projections (34, 34') and permitting both training and advancing, in either direction, of the belt (26) simultaneously.
Abstract:
A wear protected belt comprising an elongated, generally flexible belt having a plurality of plates attached to the face of the belt. The plates extend across the belt at an angle to its longitudinal axis, and substantially cover a longitudinal portion of the belt. Each plate has a first plate portion, or rib, which projects laterally from the face of the belt. Attached to the rib is a second plate portion, or top which projects from the rib and extends over a portion of the belt parallel but spaced from the face of the belt. Disposed between the top of the plate and the belt surface is a shock absorbing bar means, or bar. When heavy objects impact the top of the plate, the top of the plate engages the bar and the bar absorbs the force of the impact. The bar also resists shearing or bending forces on the plate by bearing against the top of the plate and thereby resisting turning motions on the plate.
Abstract:
A double-walled rotary tubular conveyor includes a stabilizing drive means which prevents the conveyor tube from moving backward, forward or sideways. Two pairs of driven rollers are located in the hollow interior of the conveyor tube. A rubber drive wheel located on the outside of the conveyor tube presses through the tube against the driven rollers. The drive wheel includes a protruding circumferential disc around its middle which is received in the spacing between the four driven rollers through the conveyor material. Two or more synchronized double-walled rotary tubular conveyors can be employed as drive conveyors for a driven tubular conveyor of unlimited length.
Abstract:
A steel cord reinforcement for elastomers and elastomeric articles comprising a steel cord crimped in a zig-zag fashion used in the warp direction of the reinforcing fabric; the crimps of adjacent warped cords lie in phase, and the wave length p of the crimp and the amplitude c of the crimp are related such that 0.02 p.ltoreq.c.ltoreq.0.07 p; to achieve optimal properties of cord elongation and cord deformation, the relationship S=k p.sup.2 wherein 0.7.ltoreq.k.ltoreq.3, and the stiffness S=10.sup.4 N [.SIGMA.(D.sub.i.sup.4 .times.n.sub.i)] wherein D.sub.i represents the diameter of wire filament "i" in the cord, n.sub.i is the number of wires "i" per warp cord, and N is the number of warp cords per mm width of the fabric.
Abstract:
A curved belt conveyor having a generally planar ring shaped belt supported and guided for movement along a closed path of travel having first and second generally parallel, spaced apart runs with an inner peripheral edge of the belt substantially defining an arc of the circle about a predetermined center. In accordance with the present invention, the inner peripheral edge of the belt is engaged by a plurality of guide rollers, each of which is mounted for individual independent movement radially of the arc described by the inner peripheral edge. The rollers are resiliently biased radially outwardly against the edge of the belt.
Abstract:
A conveying apparatus having a work portion including two work runs disposed to travel at an angle to each other is disclosed. The apparatus includes means for guiding the work portion of an endless conveyor belt whereby first and second work runs lying at an angle to each other and connected by a downwardly extending loop are provided. The guide means is further arranged such that the discharge end of the first work run lies in a plane above the receiving end of the second work run. Means for driving the conveyor belt, and guide means for guiding the return run of the belt are also provided.
Abstract:
A modular compartmentalized conveyor belt system including a plurality of spaced roller bearing pins; a plurality of rollers mounted on the pins; first and second spaced sets of raised link members, each set arranged in first and second rows for coupling adjacent pairs of pins, the link members in each row disposed in close overlapping relationship with those in the other row, each of the link members including two horizontally spaced holes for receiving adjacent pins and at least one hole vertically spaced from the horizontally spaced holes for receiving a flight pin; each of the links in each of the rows meeting with adjacent link members in its row approximately midway of the link member in the other row, and each of the link members having at each edge a flight pin recess which cooperates with that of an adjacent link member in the same row for accommodating a flight pin received in a vertical spaced hole in a link member of the other row.
Abstract:
A closed loop conveyor system comprising a cylindrical drive pulley and a cylindrical return pulley, each including at least one groove having a generally W-shaped transverse cross section, and a conveyor belt disposed around the drive pulley and return pulley and having a carcass with an exterior load-carrying surface and an interior surface that includes at least one groove-engaging rib formed in the direction of belt travel. The bottom surface of the rib has a transverse cross section in the shape of an inverted V serving to bifurcate the rib into two wedging portions which engage and are spread apart by the bottom wall of the groove, thereby causing the rib to lockingly mate with the groove.
