Abstract:
An automatic closure mechanism, particularly adapted for use with a toilet seat is described. The mechanism will automatically lower a toilet seat that has been rotated to a raised position after a time interval determined by the viscosity of a damper fluid in a dashpot of the mechanism. The mechanism is simply constructed and preferably integral with a rear edge of the toilet seat so that it provides a clean, neat appearance which is aesthetically pleasing and does not interfere with cleaning or maintenance of the toilet fixture. The mechanism includes a dry coil spring section and a hydraulic dashpot section. The dashpot includes a primary flap valve and a relief flap valve which permit the toilet seat to be raised with very little resistance and automatically returned to a lowered position after about 1-5 minutes, depending on the viscosity of the damper fluid in the dashpot. The automatic closure may be overridden to forcibly return the seat to the lowered position in an emergency situation without damage to the seat or the closure mechanism. The advantages include a simple, economic construction, a neat appearance, and a robust closure mechanism which cannot be damaged by a manual override of the closure damper.
Abstract:
A rotation deceleration device used for a sanitary cleaning device which includes a toilet seat and a toilet cover and is attached to a toilet bowl, thereby injecting warm water in the toilet bowl. The rotation deceleration device includes a cylinder having a hydraulic chamber filled with a control oil; a rotation shaft inserted through the cylinder; a control wall radially projected from the rotation shaft to divide the hydraulic chamber into at least two sub chambers; a control valve provided between the control wall and an inner surface of the cylinder. The control valve has a closing wall opposed to a side surface of the control wall so as to be attachable thereto and also has an engaging member opposed to the other side of the control wall so as to be engageable therewith in accordance with the rotation of the rotation shaft. The control valve is formed of a material which has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than that of a material forming the control wall and the cylinder.
Abstract:
A resettable fail-safe fire door release mechanism which allows normal powered operation of a fire door is disclosed. A solenoid having a first open state in the absence of an applied electric current and a second closed state in the presence of an applied electric current is incorporated into the motor-operator unit of an overhead door. Brake actuator utilizes the spring force of a normally disengaged brake to keep the brake actuator in a first position. The plunger of the solenoid acts through the brake actuator in opposition to the spring so that energizing the solenoid overcomes the force of the spring, moving the brake actuator, and engaging the brake; deenergizing the solenoid causes the spring to again disengage the brake. A normally closed switch having a mechanical actuator is wired in series with the solenoid. The melting of a fusible link releases a spring loaded plunger which depresses the actuator opening the switch. A cable having one end connected to the actuator of the switch and the other end external to the case of the motor-operator allows manual opening of the switch and hence closing of the door.
Abstract:
A door apparatus with damper switch formed bya control function which supplies a soft operation of a door with combination of a spring tension and a friction of viscous oil in a damper switch,a guide function which supplies a rotation route from the operation of the door and a switching function by protrusion respectively thereinto, anda transferring moving pin which moves along the rotation route, whereby the door apparatus can be assembled easily by fixing the damper switch only and operated smoothly by tension and friction.
Abstract:
An oil damper is disclosed which comprises a cylindrical case open at one end and having a first engagement section formed upon the inner periphery thereof, an intermediate rotor having an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder, these cylinders being coaxial with respect to each other and defining an annular space open at one end, the outer periphery of the outer cylinder being provided with a second engagement section to be engaged with the first engagement section, the intermediate rotor being accommodated within the cylindrical case for rotation in only one direction, a cylindrical shaft rotor rotatably accommodated within the annular space, and viscous oil sealed within the annular space.
Abstract:
A door-closer hinge includes a first flap secured to a door, a second flap secured to a door frame, and an automatic closer as restored by a restoring spring and having a longitudinal casing secured to the second flap, in which a rotor vane fixed on a rotor having a needle passage formed in the rotor is operatively rotated with respect to a cylinder vane fixed inside a cylinder which is filled with a hydraulic oil and disposed around the rotor to thereby form a rotary-movement shock absorber for quickly opening a door when the oil is rotatably driven to contract the two vanes for quick flow of oil to the left, or for slowly closing the door when the oil is slowly returned to the right to expand the two vanes to allow oil flow merely through the smaller needle passage in the rotor.
Abstract:
A retraction device for automatically closing a panel, such as a door or window, after the panel has been opened. The retraction device includes a drum, a coiled spring power assembly for driving the drum, a centrifugal brake for controlling the power assembly and the drum to eliminate slamming of the panel during closing, and a gear train transmission assembly to connect the power assembly and the centrifugal brake. In one embodiment, the drum is a spool which carries a cable to connect the panel to the retraction device. In another embodiment, the drum has a rim which frictionally engages a frame supporting the panel. The centrifugal brake is adjustable to take into account a wide range of panel sizes and frictional conditions. This adjustment can be made through an aperture in the device's housing for quick and easy on-site installation. A one-way clutch mechanism is coupled between the power assembly and the brake to actuate the brake only when the panel is being retracted. This clutch mechanism is formed by two members, each of which is integrally molded of plastic.
Abstract:
A rotary damper with a directional property is disclosed which is capable of being simplified in structure, manufactured with a low cost, and stably and precisely operated. The rotary damper is constructed in such a manner that a clutch spring is interposed between a revolving shaft and a rotor to selectively carry out the integral rotation of the rotor with the shaft or the stop of the rotor independent from the shaft.
