Abstract:
A belt filter for separating liquids from solids in a slurry feed comprising a frame supporting a porous filter medium arranged over a moving carrier belt. The medium is adaptable to receive the feed and separate liquid filtrate therefrom. A vacuum pan is provided for collecting liquid filtrate separated from the feed. The vacuum pan is a rectangular trough having an open end located directly underneath the carrier belt, with the length of said vacuum pan being situated in the direction of movement of the carrier belt. A filtrate manifold is provided for receiving the filtrate from the vacuum pan, with the filtrate manifold being attached to and located directly underneath the vacuum pan to form an integral assembly that facilitates performing maintenance on the vacuum pan.

Abstract:
According to the invention, the loose coal is displaced from the peaks to the valleys of the waves on the narrow, long coal cake and is beaten down on the coal cake. The inventive device comprises at least one scraper (12) and at least one vertically movable impact plate (13) that are disposed one behind another and are fitted with a connection (7) to a holder. Furthermore, means are provided for generating a relative movement between the scraper (12) and the impact plate (13) and between the scraper (12) and a stamping form. The scraper (12) and the impact plate (13) are interconnected by means of a device frame (14) so as to form a structural unit (6) that is connected to the holder. Preferably, the structural unit (6) can be moved along the stamping form and is equipped with a drive unit. For this purpose, the holder encompasses a guide that extends along the stamping form as well as a carriage or a car which can be slid or moved on said guide and to which the unit (6) is connected with the aid of a boom.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for reducing emissions from exhaust gas generated during the grinding and drying of cement raw meal as part of a cement manufacturing process. The invention comprises circuiting the exhaust gas between a raw mill and a clinker cooler. In the clinker cooler at least a portion of said emissions are delivered to a cement kiln in which said emissions are removed by being combusted and/or absorbed.
Abstract:
A cooler for cooling hot particulate material which has been subjected to heat treatment in an industrial kiln such as a rotary kiln for manufacturing cement clinker, includes a grate for receiving and supporting hot material from the kiln, at least one cooling gas duct which is connected to slots in the grate for introducing cooling gases into the hot material and a compressed air system for injecting compressed air into the material on the grate. The cooler also comprises at least one flow restricting device provided in the cooling gas duct. Use of the one or more flow restricting devices may permit only a very limited amount of the compressed air that is injected into the material on the grate to pass through the cooling gas duct.
Abstract:
A milling device includes a grinding member, a table, a plurality of actuators and a controller. The table has a grinding surface. The table is positioned adjacent to the grinding member such that the grinding surface faces toward at least a portion of the grinding member. The table and the grinding member at least partially define a grinding chamber sized and configured to receive material. Each actuator is connected to the grinding member such that movement of that actuator causes at least a portion of the grinding member to move from a raised position to a lowered position to grind the material. The controller is connected to the actuators and is configured to cause the actuators to move in a sequence that causes the grinding member to wobble as the grinding member is moved by the actuators to grind material.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for manufacturing of cement includes cement raw meal being preheated in a preheater, calcined in a calciner by contact with hot gases which are introduced into the calciner via a gas inlet and being diverted from the calciner via a gas outlet, and where calcined cement raw meal is diverted from the calciner, burned into cement clinker in a kiln and subsequently cooled in a clinker cooler. At least a portion of the calcined cement raw meal diverted from the calciner is heated further in a separate system to a temperature which exceeds the calcination temperature and is subsequently recirculated to the calciner. That at least a portion of the gases which are diverted via the gas outlet of the calciner is removed from the plant with a view to storage underground or other additional treatment.
Abstract:
A method for the reduction of mercury emissions from an industrial plant that utilizes a cement or minerals kiln that has a high level of mercury emissions during specific operating conditions. The invention reduces a large spike in mercury emissions typically seen in cement kiln systems when the in-line raw mill is shut-down and all preheater gases are vented to the stack directly. The invention diverts the preheater gases to a cooling device that functions as an adsorption reactor to provide mercury absorption during periods when the raw mill is not in operation.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for the reduction of mercury emissions from an industrial plant utilizing a cement or minerals kiln that has a high level of mercury. The invention allows for the repeated treatment of a gas stream to reduce the level of mercury and other pollutants through reduction steps, allowing targeted treatment of specific compounds. The invention utilizes multiple sorbent injections for the step-wise reduction in pollutants. Utilizing the multiple stages of reaction, very high levels of mercury emissions may be controlled to greater reduction percentages than existing methods.
Abstract:
A pressure-filter is disclosed along with its peripheral equipment that permit the automatic controlled operation of the filter for extracting liquids from a fluid liquid/solid slurry and for the formation of a substantially dry filter cake. The efficiency of the filter apparatus is increased by the use of hot gas as a material for treating the cake within the filter for extracting the liquids as filtrate. The hot gas may be hot air, hot inert gas, steam, or combinations thereof in controlled sequences. The filter is adapted to be able to operate under vacuum or elevated pressure and at elevated temperatures.
