Abstract: Peptide compounds and compositions containing the peptide compounds and methods for treating various infections, wounds, and skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis. Examples of wounds that may be treated include surface wounds such as lacerations, abrasions, avulsions, incisions, and amputations, pressure sores, bed sores, wounds due to peripheral vascular disease, post-surgical wounds, diabetic ulcers and wounds, burns, ocular wounds and abrasions, ocular ulcers, and treatment of inflammatory conditions such as dry eye. The peptide compounds and compositions may be used as treatments to enhance acceptance of grafts such as skin grafts and organ grafts.

Abstract: An assay system and method for generating quantitative data for a subject by determining an expression level of a biomarker panel in a sample obtained from the subject, the biomarker panel having at least one biomarker selected from a first biomarker group including the genes CDC45, CENPI, CLSPN, ERCC6L, EXO1, NCAPG, and optionally at least one additional biomarker selected from a second biomarker group including the genes BUB1B, CDK1, E2F7, GSG2, NUSAP1, RAD51, and RRM2 in any combination, wherein the expression level is obtained by measuring expression of the biomarker panel in the sample, and wherein the subject has a cancer, or is suspected of having a cancer. The cancer may be, for example, prostate cancer, brain cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer, or ovarian cancer.

Abstract: A spray-capillary device is configured to process ultra low-volume samples. The spray-capillary device includes a spray capillary that includes an inlet end and a discharge end. The spray capillary includes a porous section at the discharge end. A downstream connector provides an interface between the porous section of the spray capillary, a conductive fluid, and a high voltage electrical source. The application of voltage to the downstream connector causes electrospray ionization, which can be used to draw ultra law volume samples into the inlet end. A gas injection assembly can be used to increase the pressure on the inlet end of the spray capillary to encourage movement of the sample through the spray capillary. The spray-capillary device is well suited for providing ultra low samples to a mass spectrometer detection device.
