During the displaying of a content item by a user's content playing device, other content is determined as having a connection to the video content item, the other content including a video segment that is a portion of a strictly larger video content item. The video segment is retrieved, wherein the retrieving includes accessing the strictly larger video content item and reading the video segment from within the strictly larger video content item without reading other segments of the strictly larger video content item. The video segment is then played for the user by the content playing device.
