    Abstract: In one aspect, a ballistic resistant garment includes a front component having a front outer shell a rear component having a rear outer shell, each outer shell including a pair of shoulder extensions. Each front shoulder extension includes a first half of a releasable connector and each rear shoulder extension includes a second half of the releasable connector. A release cable is positioned on the front component. In a first position the release cable maintains engagement between the first half of the releasable connector and the second half of the releasable connector to connect the pair of front shoulder extensions with the pair of rear shoulder extensions to form a neck opening. In a second position, the release cable disengage from the releasable connector to enable the pair of front shoulder extensions to disconnect from the pair of rear shoulder extensions.

    Abstract: The use of green sand is eliminated by replacing green sand molds with all core sand assemblies that provide, during casting, both the internal and external surfaces of a casting, such as a cylinder head or engine block. In the process, a mold is formed from the same core sand that is used to form the core elements defining the internal passageways of the casting. A mold-core carrier is constructed with downwardly converging sides that hold assembled mold and core elements together, without fasteners, during transportation and pouring of the molten iron alloy into the mold-core assembly and the cooling period to form the casting. After the casting is formed, the core sand from both the mold elements and core elements is recovered, and may be recycled and processed to form further mold elements or core elements or both.

    Abstract: A system for recovering, purifying and recharging refrigerant in a refrigeration system comprises a refrigerant compressor having an input connected through an evaporator and a recovery control valve to a refrigeration system from which refrigerant is to be recovered, purified and recharged. A condenser is connected to the output of the compressor in heat exchange relation with the evaporator for liquifying refrigerant from the compressor output. Refrigerant liquified in the condenser is fed to a first port of a refrigerant storage container. During a purification cycle, refrigerant is circulated from a second port of the refrigerant storage container in a closed path through a circulation valve and a filter for removing water and other contaminants, and then returned to the first container port. The refrigeration system from which refrigerant has been recovered is evacuated to atmosphere through a vacuum valve. Following such evacuation, the second port of the refrigerant storage container is connected through a recharging valve to the refrigeration of system for feeding refrigerant from the storage container to the refrigeration system, and thereby recharging the refrigeration system for normal use.

    Abstract: A conventional CRT is modified to include a vertical column of electrodes bedded in the face of the CRT. A single valued function is displayed on the CRT and the vertical and horizontal gains are adjusted to produce the desired sweep on the face of the CRT. The horizontal sweep is then disabled and the sweep is compressed to a single axis, coincident with the column of electrodes. The electron beam, corresponding to the plot, generates signals on the electrodes which are encoded to binary outputs. By continually decoding each three consecutive outputs, corresponding points of the plot are determined.
