Abstract:
An image detecting apparatus has an edit function with good operability and compatibility. When a chapter mark key on a remote control is pressed while an image reproducing system including an MPEG video decoder, a video signal post-processing circuit, a combining circuit, and an NTSC encoder is reproducing image data recorded on a recording medium, a CPU obtains information for identifying the image being reproduced and displayed, and then records the information on the recording medium. With reference to the image provided with a chapter mark, a still image generating circuit displays reduced still images, for example, so that a target image can be specified. Reproduction and editing can be performed with reference to the specified image.
Abstract:
A display control apparatus which controls display of information about a group of data having a predetermined relevance, the apparatus may include a means for generating a three dimensional model for display in accordance with a first item of information of the information about the group; and a means for controlling display of a second item of information that is the information about the group and different from the first item of information so as to be overlaid on a three dimensional image displayed based on the model.
Abstract:
An information processing apparatus includes an image-information obtaining unit configured to obtain first image information; an information associating unit configured to generate first related information having certain content related to the first image information and to associate the first related information with the first image information; a display processor configured to use function data including second image information and condition information to display an image of the second image information, and to allow display of a representative image representing the first image information on the image of the second image information; a determining unit configured to determine whether the content of the first related information associated with the first image information satisfies a condition represented by the condition information; and a display controller configured to cause the display processor to display the representative image only when the determining unit determines that the condition is satisfied.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus and an imaging method supply an optimum amount of image data to another apparatus. When a PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps, a mobile phone determines that the maximum speed of communication with the PDA is low, reduces the amount of moving image data captured by a CCD of the mobile phone accordingly, and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA therefore displays a low-quality moving image on its display unit. When the PDA has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps, the CPU of the mobile phone leaves unchanged the amount of moving picture data captured by the CCD and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA. The PDA then displays a high-quality moving image on its display unit. The foregoing may be advantageously applied to digital cameras.
Abstract:
A top menu is configured to provide information about chapters contained in a recording medium when it is finalized. From an optical disk as a recording medium, a title retrieval section reads title information about each title of motion picture data recorded on the optical disk. A chapter retrieval section reads chapter information about each chapter in the corresponding title based on the title information obtained in this manner. Based on the chapter information obtained in this manner, a representative picture selection section selects a representative picture in each chapter. A menu generation section generates the top menu including a display area to reproduce chapters based on the chapter information obtained by the chapter retrieval section.
Abstract:
An information recording apparatus is disclosed which comprises: a first recording element for recording input picture information in units of recording into a first area of a recording medium; a representative data generating element for generating representative data representing the picture information recorded in the units of recording; a first memory for recording a plurality of symbolic pictures; a second memory for recording a program for generating link information linking the plurality of symbolic pictures recorded in the first memory with the representative data; a link information generating element for generating the link information using program; a picture generating element which, based on the link information, generates picture information including at least the symbolic pictures and the representative data being linked with one another; and a second recording element for recording the picture information generated by the picture generating element to a second area of the recording medium.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a picture display controlling apparatus capable of improving the user's ease of operation upon selecting picture data on a small-size screen of digital cameras or the like. Picture data items held in a data holding unit (310) are sorted into picture groups. The location of the picture data item most recently displayed from any of the picture groups is held as a picture resume pointer in a resume pointer holding unit (320). With an operation input accepted from the user by an operation inputting device (340), a display controlling unit (390) causes a displaying unit (350) to display the picture designated by the operation input while effecting transition from the current display status retained in a status holding unit (330). If the operation input designates transition from a first picture group to a second picture group, the location of the picture data item currently displayed from the first picture group is placed into the resume pointer holding unit (320), and the location of the picture data item to be displayed anew from the second picture group is retrieved from the resume pointer holding unit (320).

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for furnishing discs with additional information specific to a given device for disc management purposes. An information control unit references a disc management table in a data management memory to verify whether or not a disc ID acquired from a current disc information management unit has already been recorded. If the result reveals the disc has never been loaded, the information control unit adds disc information about the disc to the disc management table. A user may furnish the disc with such additional information as a local disc ID and a local disc name specific to the user's device. The information control unit enters the additional information into the disc management table in association with the disc ID.
