Abstract:
RNA interference is provided for inhibition of tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) by silencing TNFα cell surface receptor TNF receptor-1 (TNFR1) mRNA expression, or by silencing TNFα converting enzyme (TACE/ADAM17) mRNA expression. Silencing such TNFα targets, in particular, is useful for treating patients having a TNFα-related condition or at risk of developing a TNFα-related condition such as the ocular conditions dry eye, allergic conjunctivitis, or ocular inflammation, or such as dermatitis, rhinitis, or asthma, for example.
Abstract:
An information storage array includes a programmable material at one or more storage locations and pulse generation circuitry for generating at least two pulses—in particular, a write pulse that writes a value into the programmable material an erase pulse that erases a value from the programmable material. In general, the erase pulse is greater in duration than the write pulse. Either the write pulse or the erase pulse is selected based at least in part on a state of a data bit to be stored in the programmable material.
Abstract:
The invention concerns in one embodiment a method for treating glaucoma or elevated IOP in a patient comprising administering to the patient an effective amount of a composition comprising an agent that modulates PAI-1 activity. In a preferred embodiment, the agent that modulates PAI-1 expression and/or activity is cilostazol or an analog or metabolite of cilostazol.
Abstract:
RNA interference is provided for inhibition of connective tissue growth factor mRNA expression in ocular disorders involving CTGF expression. Ocular disorders involving aberrant CTGF expression include glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, choroidal neovascularization, proliferative vitreoretinopathy and wound healing. Such disorders are treated by administering interfering RNAs of the present invention.
Abstract:
A memory device includes a memory array comprising a plurality of generally parallel rows and a plurality of generally parallel columns intersecting the plurality of rows; a first address decoder circuit disposed on a first side of the memory array; and a second address decoder circuit disposed on a second side of the memory array different from the first side. At least two consecutive rows are connected to the first address decoder circuit and at least two other consecutive rows are connected to the second address decoder circuit.
Abstract:
The invention concerns in one embodiment a method of treating glaucoma or elevated intraocular pressure comprising administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of a composition comprising a Complement C1q inhibitor. In another embodiment, the invention concerns a composition for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure and glaucoma, the composition comprising a pharmaceutically effective amount of a Complement C1q inhibitor.
Abstract:
A high-speed, low-power memory device comprises an array of non-linear conductors wherein the storage, address decoding, and output detection are all accomplished with diodes or other non-linear conductors. In various embodiments, the row and column resistors are switchable between a high resistance when connected to a row or column that is non-selected, and a low resistance when connected to the selected row and column.
Abstract:
A wireless communication system for use in a process environment uses mesh and possibly a combination of mesh and point-to-point communications to produce a wireless communication network that can be easily set up, configured, changed and monitored, thereby making a wireless communication network that is less expensive, and more robust and reliable. The wireless communication system allows virtual communication paths to be established and used within the process control system in a manner that is independent of the manner in which the wireless signals are sent between different wireless transmitting and receiving devices within the process plant, to thereby operate in a manner that is independent of the specific messages or virtual communication paths within the process plant. Still further, communication analysis tools are provided to enable a user or operator to view the operation of the wireless communication network to thereby analyze the ongoing operation of the wireless communications within the wireless communication network.
Abstract:
The invention provides methods for delivering interfering RNA molecules to an eye of a patient to treat ocular disorders. In particular, the methods of the invention comprise the use of a self-complementary adeno-associated (scAAV) viral vector that can deliver an interfering RNA molecule to an eye of a patient to inhibit expression of a gene that is associated with an ocular disorder.
