Abstract: A temperature detecting apparatus for adjusting direction of airflow from a fan according to thermal status in an electronic device, includes a detection module, a control module, and a driver module. The detection module detects temperatures of a plurality of position coordinates in the electronic device and converts the detected temperatures and the plurality of position coordinates corresponding to the detected temperatures to first voltage signals. The control module receives the first voltage signals and compares the temperatures of corresponding position coordinates to output a position coordinate of the greatest temperature according to the first voltage signals. The driver module receives the position coordinate of the greatest temperature and directs airflow towards a position having the greatest temperature.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention relates to a power converter formed with an error amplifier and a related method. In an embodiment, a first switch is coupled in series with an error amplifier compensation capacitor. Upon detection of a current level greater than a threshold level, the compensation capacitor is decoupled from the error amplifier by opening the first switch. In an embodiment, a second switch is coupled in parallel with the compensation capacitor, and the current-sensing circuit enables conductivity of the second switch to discharge the compensation capacitor upon detection of the current level greater than the threshold level. The second switch is opened upon detection of the current level less than the threshold level. In an embodiment, the current-sensing circuit controls an output current of the power converter at a current-limit level upon detection of the internal current level greater than the threshold level.

Abstract: A method, system and computer readable medium selects additional message content to display to a user when the user request base content. In order to optimize the intermediate selection pool of message candidates (from which a final selection is chosen), for each candidate message, a historical aggregate of CTR data is combined with an offline estimate, also obtained from historical data, of RElative Probability of Action (REPA, which combines computed relevancy scores and ranking information) and with bid amount to obtain an estimate for revenue generation. This estimate is combined with dynamic matching between the message and the page/user pair to obtain a final score for each message that is used to create the intermediate selection pool of message for the page displayed. Final message selection uses a feedback loop, using specific CRT in conjunction with the specific page displayed, for the messages in the intermediately selected pool.

Abstract: Method and device for light signal reception. This device can selectively execute a comparison mode or a gain mode. In the device, a transmitter transmits a light beam to a target. A receiver receives the light beam reflected from the target and outputs a corresponding received signal. In the comparison mode, it is determined whether a pulse in the received signal is higher than a reference voltage level. When the pulse is higher the reference voltage level, the pulse is outputted. The gain mode is executed and the received signal is amplified and output when no pulse is higher than the reference voltage level in the received signal. The method and device of the present invention can be applied to range finders, the comparison mode is executed during short-distance measurement and the gain mode is executed during long-distance measurement thereby measuring the target distance from several meters to a thousand meters.

Abstract: A system and method have been provided for establishing communications with an existing Bluetooth protocol piconet. The master device of the piconet broadcasts a beacon frequency at a predetermined frequency. The beacon frequency includes the BD_addr of the master device, as well as clock information, so that an inquiring device monitoring the beacon can acquire the system timing and transmission hopping frequency sequence. In a contention period following the beacon frequency, the inquiring device transmits its own BD_addr. In response to receiving the inquiring device BD_addr, the master device provides the inquiring device with an AM_addr.

Abstract: A novel method is presented to form and planarize an inter-metal-dielectric(IMD) layer of an integrated circuit with two or more levels of interconnection metallurgy. The method utilizes chemical-mechanical-polishing(CMP) followed by reactive-ion-etching(RIE) to first planarize and then etch back a deposited IMD layer. Metal line spacings of less than 1.5 microns produce voids in the IMD even when spin-on-glass(SOG) is used to partially fill the spaces prior to IMD deposition. These voids, which contain organic residues and debris, can produce eruptions of material during several subsequent processing steps. The method of this invention attenuates and de-activates these voids, rendering them completely benign. Since CMP is only used to achieve a planar surface, risks of CMP damage to alignment marks and other features are also reduced.
