Abstract:
A polarized neutron guide for separating neutrons into polarized neutrons while minimizing loss of the neutrons is provided. The polarized neutron guide includes a body, the first space and the second space, and a neutron separation space. The body includes super mirrors coated with a neutron-reflective thin film and the first and second spaces are formed by the first plate inside the body. The neutron separation space is formed by the second plate disposed at the entry of the first space and the third plate disposed at the entry of the second space. Spin-up polarized neutrons and spin-down polarized neutrons are simultaneously separated and transferred in the first and second spaces, respectively. Therefore, with minimum loss of the neutrons, the spin-up polarized neutrons and the spin-down polarized neutrons are effectively separated and collected.

Abstract:
An ice maker and a refrigerator having the same include an ice making container which is maintained at a temperature higher than a freezing point of water. Ace core rods having the temperature lower than the freezing point are inserted into the ice making container to cause water in the container to freeze. Accordingly, water at the periphery of the ice making container remains liquid which the water surrounding the ice core rods freezes. As a result, air bubbles generated when the ice is made can be discharged from the liquid portions of the water at the outer edges of the container. This results in ice without trapped air bubbles, which allows excellent transparent ice pieces to be formed. In some embodiments, the exterior surfaces of the ice making container are maintained at a temperature lower than the freezing point of water, and thawing rods maintained at the temperature higher than the freezing point of water are inserted into the center portions of the ice making container. In this embodiment, water at the edges of the ice making container are frozen first, while the water surrounding the thawing rods remains liquid. This also allows air bubbles to escape during formation of the ice, which results in transparent ice pieces.
Abstract:
An ice maker and a controlling method thereof are provided. The system and method may prevent the overflow or splashing of water or thin ice out of an ice tray during the supply of water or when the ice maker is shaken by an external force. The ice maker may include an ice tray, and an ice tray cover that covers an open portion of the ice tray. The cover may include an opening through which water may be supplied to the ice tray, and through which ice may be discharged from the ice tray. The cover may move together with the tray, or may move separately from the tray, to facilitate these supply and discharge processes.
Abstract:
A capacitance multiplier includes a self-biasing active load for generating a stable bias voltage without a separate current bias. In addition, the capacitance multiplier includes a cascode load within a multiplying section for increasing the output resistance and in turn the charging/discharging efficiency. Furthermore, the capacitance multiplier is implemented with a plurality of multiplying paths to reduce effects of noise for more stable generation of the multiplied capacitance.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for terminating anionic polymerization using phosphate ester/water mixture, more particularly to a novel method for terminating anionic polymerization using phosphate ester/water mixture as a polymerization terminator in a living polymer solution prepared by the anionic polymerization, so that the polymerization can be terminated effectively, without coupling or discoloration and with less production of basic materials that affect the antioxidant, thereby enabling control of acidity without necessitating a further neutralization process.
Abstract:
A feedback-type variable gain amplifier including a first field effect transistor, a feedback circuit, and a load circuit. The first field effect transistor receives an input voltage signal through an input node, amplifies the input voltage signal, and outputs the amplified input voltage signal through an output node. The feedback circuit is coupled between the input node and the output node, and generates feedback impedance that is changed in response to a control signal. The load circuit is coupled between the output node and a voltage source, and generates load impedance that is changed in response to the control signal to cancel a change of input impedance due to a change of the feedback impedance. Therefore, since the input impedance is not changed when the gain of the amplifier is changed, a voltage standing wave ratio is good, and a range of gain control is broad.
