Abstract:
An example method for network selection involves discovering network capabilities by performing an Access Network Query Protocol (ANQP) query at a wireless terminal, and receiving a subsequent ANQP response from an access point of a wireless local area network. The network capabilities are indicated in the subsequent ANQP response. The example method also involves comparing the network capabilities with configured capabilities, finding a match between at least a portion of the network capabilities and at least a portion of the configured capabilities, and joining the wireless terminal with the access point based on the at least the portion of the network capabilities matching the at least the portion of the configured capabilities.
Abstract:
A mobile device may retrieve service information about a network prior to associating with the network. Utilizing an advertisement protocol to transmit service query messages, a mobile device may receive service query responses from a network that identify the services available prior to establishing network capability. In other words, the messaging is prior to the exchange of any authentication parameters between the device and the network as well prior to the establishment of a recognized session between the device and the network.
Abstract:
A station makes a unidirectional announcement (that is, an indication, notification or advertisement) of types of services that are available to devices in or via a wireless network, for example, a wireless local area network (WLAN). The announcement is receivable by mobile devices within radio communication range of the wireless network that are in the pre-associated state, because the announcement is conveyed using low-level layer 2 frames. A mobile device that receives such a layer 2 frame may determine the announced service type or types from the received layer 2 frame. The mobile device may determine whether it can make use of any of the announced service type or types. The mobile device may provide results of the determination to a network selection algorithm implemented at the mobile device.
Abstract:
A method at an infrastructure unit of signaling a presence of a vulnerable road user, the method including receiving at least one report from a sensor unit, the at least one report indicating the presence of the vulnerable road user; composing a message indicating the presence of the vulnerable road user; and transmitting the message to road users proximate the infrastructure unit on a channel.
Abstract:
Methods and systems of segmenting computing devices in a wireless network having an access point broadcasting in a single domain are described. In an exemplary method, a request to join the wireless network is received from a computing device. The request is associated with an identifier. When the identifier is not associated with a virtual network within the wireless network, a virtual network is configured within the wireless network and the identifier is associated thereto and the computing device is assigned thereto. When the identifier is associated with an existing virtual network within the wireless network, the computing device is assigned to the existing virtual network.
Abstract:
In some examples, a first wireless device transmits, within a first band designated for vehicle-related communications, service information for a service, the service information comprising information of a channel in a second band for communication of data of the service, the second band being outside of the first band.
Abstract:
In an access device associated with a first network cell, a method for enabling user equipment (UE) to obtain a service unavailable through the first network cell includes receiving a request for the UE to access the service, and identifying, in a message to the UE, a plurality of second network cells providing the service.
Abstract:
In some examples, a headless device that is without an available user interface and that is to be provisioned for access to a network receives information relating to provisioning of the headless device from a network node. The headless device sends, to a mediator device with a user interface, at least a portion of the received information. The headless device receives, from the mediator device, information to proceed with the provisioning of the headless device.
Abstract:
An access point advertises a management frame quality of service (MFQ) policy that defines an access category used for transmitting a first type of management frame. Each mobile station associated with the access point is to prioritize transmission of management frames according to the MFQ policy advertised by the access point, unless a policy configuration request for the mobile station to prioritize transmission of management frames according to a different MFQ policy has been accepted.
Abstract:
In some examples, a configurator device maps a configuration attribute received from a wireless device to a credential attribute, the credential attribute to be mapped to a network policy. The configurator device sends the credential attribute to the wireless device, the credential attribute useable by the wireless device to access an access point (AP), and useable by the AP to obtain the network policy to apply to a communication of the wireless device.
