摘要: A low color epoxy resin composition comprising (a) an epoxy resin and (b) at least one an inorganic phosphorous-containing compound stabilizing agent, for example an additive such as sodium pyrophosphate dibasic (SPD) compound; wherein the resulting epoxy resin composition is storage stable and the epoxy resin composition exhibits a low color. The low color epoxy resin composition is used to prepare an epoxy encapsulant which is useful in light emitting diodes (LEDs).

摘要: Organodavs are added to semiconductive compositions to provide a reduction in the dielectric losses of layered composites in which the semiconductive layer contains species which could migrate into the insulation and result in undesirably high dielectric losses, The invention semiconductive compositions provide improved performance in power cable applications.

摘要: Scorch is inhibited during the free-radical crosslinking of a crosslinkable polymer, e.g., an EPDM, by incorporating into the polymer before melt processing and crosslinking a scorch inhibiting amount of a derivative, preferably an ether, ester or urethane derivative, of a TEMPO compound, e.g., 4-hydroxy-tetrahydrocarbylpiperidin-1-oxyl. The scorch inhibitors of this invention perform as well, if not better, than their 4-hydroxy-tetrahydrocarbylpiperidin-1-oxyl counterparts in similar polymer compositions and under similar conditions in terms of scorch inhibition and ultimate degree of crosslinking, but exhibit less volatility and less migration within the polymer composition.

摘要: Thermally activated, free-radical initiator-containing polymer compositions comprise a (i) free radical initiator, (ii) free radical crosslinkable polymer, (iii) scorch inhibiting amount and/or a cure-boosting amount of at least one of isocyanate, diiso-cyanate, e.g., MDI, or hydroxyalkyl(meth)acrylate compound, e.g., hydroxyethyl(meth)acrylate, and, optionally, (iv) other scorch retardants and/or cure boosters, e.g., a TEMPO compound, a hindered phenol, alpha-methyl styrene dimer, etc. The free radical initiator can be any thermally activated compound that is relatively unstable and easily breaks into at least two radicals, e.g., a peroxide or azo initiator. The crosslinkable polymer is a thermoplastic and/or elastomeric polymer that can be crosslinked (cured) through the action of a crosslinking agent, e.g., LDPE. The isocyanate, diisocyanate and (meth)acrylate scorch inhibitors and/or cure boosters can be used alone, or in combination with one another, or, optionally, in combination with a TEMPO compound, e.g., 4-hydroxy-TEMPO.

摘要: TRXLPE-type cable sheaths are prepared by a method in which a solid polymer is mixed with a liquid water tree-resistant agent either by dosing or direct injection. In the dosing method, the solid polymer, e.g., high pressure LDPE, is sprayed or otherwise contacted with the liquid agent, e.g., PEG, the agent is allowed to absorb into the polymer, and the polymer with absorbed agent is then fed to an extrusion apparatus for extrusion over a sheathed or unsheathed wire or optic fiber. In the direct injection method, the solid polymer is first fed to an extrusion apparatus, and the liquid agent is sprayed or otherwise contacted with the polymer before the two are blended with one another through the action of the mixing elements of the apparatus.
