摘要: A modular sensor assembly for sensing conditions at a computer rack, such as environmental conditions. The sensor assembly includes an elongate flexible body, configured to attach to a computer rack, with a plurality of addressable sensors, disposed along the body and interconnected to a common connector wire. A connector wire lead is provided to interconnect the connector wire to a central system configured to receive and interpret data from the plurality of sensors relating to conditions associated with the computer rack.

摘要: A flexure mechanism for an interface device that interfaces a user with a computer system. An interface device includes a manipulandum physically contacted by the user. A five-bar closed-loop mechanism is coupled to the manipulandum to provide two rotary degrees of freedom to the manipulandum. The mechanism includes members coupled to each other by flexible couplings allowing rotation of the members. In preferred embodiments, four or five of the members are coupled together by flexible couplings that allow bending, thereby forming a unitary piece, where the couplings are oriented along axes of rotation of the mechanism. A senor senses a position of the manipulandum outputs a sensor signal, and in some embodiments actuators are coupled to the mechanism to output a force to the manipulandum in particular degrees of freedom. The manipulandum can be a joystick handle or portion of a sphere, where the device in one embodiment can be a handheld gamepad or similar controller.

摘要: A reusable closure for placement within the neck of a returnable and reusable container for liquid includes an improved sealing device for preventing contamination of the container. The sealing device achieves a tight seal between a ball and a valve seat within the closure. A cap abutment or spring may optionally be provided to further enhance the tightness of the seal.

摘要: The apparatus comprises a bifurcated head rotatably mounted upon a spring loaded arm. The head has two edge plates which can be brought into tangential contact with the periphery of a rotating object. When the head is brought into contact with objects of different diameters, the points of contact with the edge plates progress along location locus lines which, when produced, intersect an an apex. A displacement transducer mounted upon the head has a spring loaded plunger with a probe which is contacted to and detects inaccuracies upon the periphery of the object. In order to accommodate test objects of different diameters, the displacement transducer is bodily movable along an axis of adjustment relative to the head. The point of contact between the probe and test object will, between objects of different diameter, progress along a straight measurement locus line parallel to or coincident with the axis of adjustment. This measurement locus line passes through the apex but does not bisect the included angle between the location locus lines. This arrangement is mechanically simple yet gives unequal angular spacings between the points of contact which do not depend on the diameter of the test object. This facilitates the application of accurate harmonic (Fourier) reconstruction of the roundness profile of the test object. No precision turntable or spindle is required and the method is therefore suitable for in situ measurement. The diameter of the test object need not be known.

摘要: For determining a path of movement of a tool along shoe bottom marginal portions a series of points along such path is selected and information regarding such points stored in the form of digitized co-ordinate axis values by a computer, from which information the path can subsequently be derived. The selected points are spaced by a predetermined distance (which may be the same for each pair of adjacent points) regardless of shoe bottom contour. To this end, when each point is digitized, the tool and shoe bottom are relatively moved apart by the predetermined distance along a first axis, extending heightwise of the shoe bottom. Thereafter in returning the tool and shoe bottom into engagement along said one dimension under operator control, appropriate compensating movement also takes place automatically along a lengthwise axis and/or along widthwise axis. In addition, relative movement may also be effected between the tool and surface under operator control along said widthwise axis, compensating movement then automatically taking place along said lengthwise axis. In either case, the compensating movement serves to maintain the predetermined distance between the tool and the workpiece surface.

摘要: Present thermal solutions to conduct heat from pluggable optical modules into heat sinks use a metal heat sink attached with a spring clip. The interface between the pluggable module and the heat sink is simple metal-on-metal contact, which is inherently a poor thermal interface and limits heat dissipation from the optical module. Heat dissipation from pluggable optical modules is enhanced by the application of thermally conductive fibers, such as an advanced carbon nanotube velvet. The solution improves heat dissipation while preserving the removable nature of the optical modules.
