The subject invention provides a polymer mixture having high heat resistivity, low hexane extractive and controllably lower or higher modulus. The mixture is comprised of at least one first substantially linear ethylene polymer, Component (A), and at least one second ethylene polymer which is a homogeneously branched polymer, heterogeneously branched linear polymer or a non-short chain branched linear polymer. When fabricated into film, the mixture is characterized by a heat seal initiation temperature which is substantially lower than its Vicat softening point as well as a high ultimate hot tack strength. When fabricated as a molded article, the mixture is characterized by high microwave warp distortion while maintaining a lower modulus. The polymer mixture is particularly well-suited for use in multilayer film structures as a sealant layer for such applications as cook-in packages, hot-fill packages, and barrier shrink films. In molding applications, the mixture is well-suited as freezer-to-microwave food storage containers and lids which maintain good flexibility at low temperature to allow easy openability of such containers.

Super high flow ethylene polymer compositions comprising at least one linear ethylene polymer are disclosed which have improved processability for use in making thermally formed articles (e.g., thin-walled lids, cups and containers). The compositions have a processing index from about 0.005 KPoise to about 1 KPoise and are particularly useful in thermal forming processes having shear rates of at least 2,000 sec.sup.-1 (e.g., injection molding processes). The compositions can be used to make thin-walled lids and cups and have good environmental stress crack resistance and Gullwing Tear properties.

The invention provides a composition, comprising a blend, wherein said blend comprises a high molecular weight ethylene-based interpolymer and a low molecular weight ethylene-based interpolymer, and the high molecular weight ethylene-based interpolymer is a heterogeneously branched linear or a homogeneously branched linear ethylene-based interpolymer, and has a density from 0.922 g/cc to 0.929 g/cc, and a high load melt index (I21) from 0.2 g/10 min to 1.0 g/10 min, and the low molecular weight ethylene-based interpolymer is heterogeneously branched linear or a homogeneously branched linear ethylene-based interpolymer, and has a density from 0.940 g/cc to 0.955 g/cc, and a melt index (I2) from 6 g/10 min to 50 g/10 min. The blend has a single peak in an ATREF profile eluting above 30° C., and has a coefficient of viscosity average molecular weight (CM?) less than −0.0032 in the log(calculated Mv) versus elution temperature, said CMv calculated in the range of elution temperatures from 70° C. to 90° C. The Mv is the viscosity average molecular weight.

Film having good blocking properties and low coefficient of friction is prepared without the presence of antiblock additives from certain thermoplastic ethylene interpolymer products. The thermoplastic ethylene interpolymer products have a density of about 0,935 g/ml or less, a melt flow ratio, I.sub.10/ I.sub.2, of at least about 8, and at least about 0.5 percent by weight of the interpolymer product has a weight average molecular weight of at least about 1,000,000 grams/mole. The interpolymer products are a blend or composite of ethylene polymers or copolymers and comprise at least a first interpolymer of ethylene with at least one alpha-olefin monomer. Preferably, the interpolymer products have a melt index, I.sub.2, of from about 0.1 to about 4 grams/10 minutes. The interpolymer products can be made using discrete polymer blends, or preferably, in a multiple reactor sequence. Blown film made from the interpolymer products is especially useful in grocery sack applications.

The instant invention provides an ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer suitable for use in shrinkage film applications, and articles made therefrom. The ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer according to the present invention has a CDBI of less than 60%, and comprises at least two fractions in crossfractionation of the ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer, eluting from 85° C. to 90° C. and from 90° C. to 95° C., comprising a weight fraction ratio of >0.68 and a molecular weight homogeneity index of greater than 0.65; wherein the weight fraction ratio is the ratio of the weight of polymer in each fraction divided by the weight of polymer eluting between 95° C. and 100° C. and the molecular weight homogeneity index is the ratio of the weight average molecular weight of the polymer in the fraction divided by the weight average molecular weight of the polymer eluting between 95° C. and 100° C., and wherein the ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer has a density in the range of 0.920 to 0.940 g/cm3.

Also disclosed is process for making an ethylene-based polymer which includes the steps of splitting a process fluid for delivery into a tubular reactor; feeding an upstream process feed stream into a first reaction zone and at least one downstream process feed stream into at least one other reaction zone, where the process fluid has an average velocity of at least 10 meters per second; and initiating a free-radical polymerization reaction.
