    摘要: The subject invention discloses a liquid isoprene-butadiene rubber (IBR) which is particularly valuable for use in making treads for high performance automobile tires, including race tires, that exhibit superior dry traction characteristics and durability. The isoprene-butadiene rubber of this invention is a liquid at room temperature and is comprised of repeat units which are derived from about 5 weight percent to about 95 weight percent isoprene and from about 5 weight percent to about 95 weight percent 1,3-butadiene, wherein the repeat units derived from isoprene and 1,3-butadiene are in essentially random order. The IBR of this invention also has a low number average molecular weight which is within the range of about 3,000 to about 50,000 and has a glass transition temperature which is within the range of about −50° C. to about 20° C. This invention more specifically discloses a tire tread compound which is comprised of (a) a rubbery elastomer, (b) about 20 phr to about 80 phr of an aromatic process oil, (c) about 35 phr to about 130 phr of a filler and (d) about 4 phr to about 40 phr of a liquid isoprene-butadiene rubber having a number average molecular weight which is within the range of about 3,000 to about 50,000 and a glass transition temperature which is within the range of about −50° C. to about 20° C.

    摘要: A stabilized, dynamically vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising dispersed dynamically vulcanized particles of at least one first elastomer or rubber comprising halogenated isobutylene-containing elastomer and dispersed particles of at least one second elastomer or rubber comprising at least one functional group capable of reacting with and grafting to a polyamide, the particles of the at least one first and at least one second elastomers dispersed in a continuous thermoplastic polyamide or nylon resin matrix comprising at least one nylon homopolymer, nylon copolymer or mixture thereof, the composition or the at least one first elastomer further comprising at least one stabilizer against degradation induced by exposure to actinic, particularly ultraviolet, radiation. The compositions are preferably produced in a mixing extruder and are suitable for producing durable, flexible, thermoplastic elastomer fluid barrier films or layers useful in industrial articles such as vehicle tire innerliners and hoses.

    摘要: A composition is described in one aspect as comprising one or more propylene-α-olefin terpolymers; wherein the propylene-α-olefin terpolymer(s) possess a melting temperature (Tm) within the range of from less than 105° C., and a heat of fusion (Hf) within the range of from less than 75 J/g; one or more polyolefin(s); and oil; wherein fillers are present, if at all, at a level that maintains a Haze value of 65% or less for the composition. The terpolymer in one embodiment is a polymer comprising at least 65 wt %, by weight of the terpolymer, of propylene-derived units, within the range of from 5 to 35 wt % of ethylene or other α-olefin and a diene such as ethylidiene norbornene, and in certain embodiments having a Mooney Viscosity (ML(1+4)@125° C.) within the range of from 10 to 50 (ASTM D1646). The compositions can be cured to form transparent or translucent articles such as sheets that are also flexible.
