A method of manufacturing flexible containers that are hermetically resealable. Each resealable container comprises a receptacle and a pair of plastic zipper strips. These transition areas of zipper strip joinder assist in providing a leakproof transition from the openable section of the zipper to the side seals, where the closure profiles are fused and flattened (i.e., crushed).

Zippers are provided for reclosable packages or bags. By selectively co-extruding a first portion of the zipper with a shrinkable or expandable material, and simultaneously co-extruding a second portion of the zipper with a dimensionally stable thermoplastic or similar material, followed by a step of activating the shrinkage or expansion of the shrinkable material, several different shapes of zipper can be achieved. For instance, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to a lower portion of the zipper or co-extruding the expandable material to an upper portion of the zipper, an upwardly arching or convex shape can be achieved. Similarly, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to an upper portion of the zipper or co-extruding the expandable material to a lower portion of the zipper, a downwardly arching or concave shape can be achieved. Similarly, by co-extruding the shrinkable material to inner portions of the zipper or the expandable material to outer portions of the zipper, a self-opening characteristic may be added to the zipper. Additionally, zippers may be placed at inclined positions in a complementary head-to-head configuration in order to eliminate or reduce waste of packaging material during manufacture.

A spot gloss film element for color systems which provides a glossy sheen to image-bearing receiver sheets in areas which were exposed to actinic radiation, while the unexposed areas remain partially or completely matte. The film element comprises, sequentially, a strippable, transparent cover sheet; a crosslinked phenolic layer; a gloss layer, which comprises an organic binder, a polymerizable component, a particulate material, and an optional photoinitiator; a photoadhering layer, which comprises a polymerizable component, a binder, and an optional photoinitiator; and a thermoplastic adhesive layer. The spot gloss film is laminated to an image bearing receiver sheet. The gloss layer and the photoadhering layer are exposed to actinic radiation through the transparent cover sheet and crosslinked phenolic layer. After peeling apart the image bearing receiver sheet and the transparent cover sheet, the crosslinked phenolic layer and the unexposed areas of the gloss layer are attached to the cover sheet, while the exposed areas of the gloss layer and the unexposed areas of the photoadhering layer remain attached to the image bearing receiver sheet.
