    摘要: A closure system for a container reduces the needed torque for assembly by minimizing frictional resistance to rotation of the closure into its desired alignment with the container before the closure is driven home onto the container neck. The reduction in the torque resistance during the application of the closure allows the rotary filling machinery to work within its torque limits and minimizes damage to the parts during the filling and sealing operation in a bottle filling line.

    摘要: A switch lever for use with a centrifugal starting switch of an electric motor. The starting switch has at least one switch contact which is moveable, in response to axial movement of a centrifugal actuator, between a start position in which a starting winding of the motor is energized and a run position in which the starting winding is de-energized. The switch lever of the present invention operatively connects the switch contact with the centrifugal actuator for movement in response thereto. The switch lever has a cam follower at one end which is engageable with an annular actuator collar of the centrifugal actuator. The cam follower includes a contoured rear cam face which prevents the cam follower from becoming "stuck" behind a flat rear surface of the actuator collar during assembly or operation of the motor.

    摘要: An improved silane/silica sol copolymer hardcoating composition for protecting optical plastic substrates from scratching is able to be manufactured at lower costs and to provide much-improved ease of use in transportation, storage, dipbath stability, and blush resistance in ordinary cleanroom atmospheres. The silane/silica sol copolymer is formed as a direct reaction product of an acidic silica sol and an monomethyl trialkoxy silane, preferably substantially monomethyltriethoxysilane, in ratios of 30:70 to 70:30, most preferably about 40:60. A tail solvent aids blush resistance and adhesion to unprimed polycarbonate. Optionally, colloidal silica sol dissolved in water-miscible solvent may be reacted in a second stage with acidic aqueous colloidal silica sol earlier silanized with monomethyl trialkoxy silane.

    摘要: Radiation-curable coating compositions which form transparent, abrasion-resistant tintable coatings upon curing by exposure to high intensity irradiation, such as ultraviolet light or electron beam irradiation. The coating composition comprises a combination of effective amounts of (a) colloidal silica, (b) the hydrolysis product of a silane compound having a polymerizable functional group such as acryloxy-functional silanes or glycidoxy-functional silanes or mixtures of both, (c) polyfunctional, polymerizable, non-acrylate-functional ethers, (d) at least one radiation sensitive initiator and, preferably, (e) a monofunctional monomer. When the surface of a substrate coated with the cured coating composition is immersed in a colored dye bath for a sufficient period of time, the coating absorbs or transmits to the substrate a desired amount of dye.
